For those that have the Maven Shift Knobs

Does any body know how this mod was done? It's where you get rid of the space between the boot and the knob.

1. Take off shift knob by unscrewing it.
2. Carefully pry up shifter trim/shift boot assembly.
3. Put a little piece of 3/8", 1/2", or 5/8" (can't remember which size I used) all-purpose coolant/oil line rubber hose onto the shifter shaft. Make sure whatever size you use that it's a snug fit.
4. Re-assemble center console & re-install your shift knob. As you tighten down the shift knob, the chunk of rubber hose hidden underneath the shift boot will slide down onto the shaft so it's very snug.

Thus, the plastic trim ring at the top of the shift boot is sandwiched between the rubber hose on the shaft and the base of the shift knob.

Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to do this all.

What do I do with the bolt from the original setup? Do I just not include it with the Maven installation?

I can't imagine how hot this knob would be in a near 100 degrees outside. It would fry the palm of your hand off. I still like the OEM knob.

The Maven shift knob definitely gets hot, but I still love mine.

The other way to keep the boot up is to get underneath the shift boot assembly and put zip-ties around the shifter. That's what I did.

You pried up the leather boot, or the entire horizontal assembly that holds the seat heater buttons, cup holders, etc...?
I've pried up the latter and its a PITA. Did it when installing the short shifter.

first time prying up the center console trim is a PITA but it gets more and more easy after that. I used a hairdryer for the first time pulling it up and popped out like butter.

You mean the nut? The nut doesn't get reused if you're trying to achieve what's in the photos above.

The entire console trim assembly, as seen in this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...hlight=console

I've done it so many times now for various mods/fixes that it's a piece of cake. Of course I never do it when it's cold, though, as I'm sure that would = broken trim and/or clips.
