Thinking of selling my 06...whats it worth?

I bought my 06 TSX only 6 months ago, but have decided at this point its not in my best interest to have a $500/mo car payment (Plus the full coverage insurance).

Anyway, It's only got ~2500 miles on it. It's a 6mt, navi, colors are carbon grey with ebony interior. The condition is of course excellent.

I realize it might be a bit of a challenge to sell a car this new due to the fact that even though Id just assume not have the car anymore, I sure as hell dont want to give away a car with 2500 miles on it. On the other hand, I could see alot of potential customers saying "well, if I can afford this guy's car, I might as well just buy a new one!"

I havent put it up for sale or anything yet, just wanted some input as to what a fair selling price for this thing might be at this point. (Probably plan to sell it in a month or two.)

according to edmonds.com, the trade-in value is $22,672-$24,267 and private party sale is $24,112-$25,804. It is too bad you did not think of those payments before you bought the car. You lose quite alot as soon as you drive that car out of the parking lot.

I saw that on Edmunds too. I should point out that those numbers dont take into account the miles, condition, and color schemes of any specific car. When I plugged all that in for mine, it came up with a private party TMV of $27,462, which sounded pretty high to me, since I know that invoice on an 07 nav is around $27,500. (Not that any dealership would sell you a TSX nav for invoice price, but still...)

I'd like to get $26,500 'ish for it. It's all stock and going in for it's first oil change today. Iv'e driven it everyday, just have a short commute (and not much of a life either the past few months. ) which is why the miles are so low. Never drag raced or abused.

suggestion: while you are at the dealer getting an oil change ask them or someone in sales how much your car is worth. they might be able to help you if they are a good dealer. you could also try adverising it for that price and see what happens- GOOD LUCK

Yeah selling it for around $26.5 is just about right. The lowest I would ever sell the car is $25,750. Maybe you can find somebody to take over the payments?

I just paid basically about this for a brand new 07, non-navi, and others have reported getting new 07's navi's for close to $28K, so you'll need to be realistic about what you can get for an 06 in a private party sale.

Usually, a car depreciates at least 10% as soon as you drive it off the lot, and your car is a model year old. I'd be surprised if you get more than $24K for it (basically 15% less than what brand new models can be obtained for today).

Here are the numbers from www.kbb.com for a private party sale:
Condition

Excellent
$28,050

Good
$26,510

Fair
$24,490

what were the details of your purchase? Would you be able to get a lower interest rate from another bank if you decided to keep the car?

you can always take your finance to another bank or re-up with who you are with now for the depreciated price of the vehicle plus excess payments which can sometimes shit you an extra couple bucks in your wallet....

Those KBB numbers are bogus for a car this new since they are based on MSRP price and not the actual price a person might pay for a new one. I think it's important not to ignore the fact that invoice on a new 07 is around $27,500.

man, you're going to take a hit in depreciation dude, just keep it!

if you're going to get rid of it, are you going to get an Accord or Civic instead? or are you going to the Toyota or Nissan family?

$24K? That's a little too low. However, you are absolutley going to take a bath on the depreciation price. Advertise it now and just wait, that's the best you can hope for. Someone will come along, eventually. Good luck!

Ive got someone that might be interested, so we'll see how it goes. My price is actually pretty good compared to some of the other Craigslist action out there. (I've checked)
