thinking of changing teams...maybe

i have and 06 tsx but im thinking of getting the 08 or 09 mercedes ben c230. it starts at about $36 000 cdn and with most options its about $42 000 cdn. which is about what i paid my tsx. it a sweet lookin ride and it got good reviews and its great bang for your buck. check it out if your not too fimiliar with it. suprisingly good value from mercedes.

The Benzes of late have decent to excellent reliability. We have a 2008 GL320CDI (our first German car in 20 years) and we've had it since Nov 2007 and have put about 13000km on it, so far nothing! We are very impressed. I'm thinking about a C230 or C300 myself as both the 230 (2.5L) and the 300 (3.0L) have more power than the TSX which is my biggest complaint against the TSX (lack of power). Just keep in mind, if you go crazy on options, you are better off buying the next car up i.e. C230 with 2 or 3 pkgs, you might as well get the C300 which comes with more stuff (bi-xenons - curve illuminating and another option, both which are not available on the loaded C230) for about $1800 more.

I'd say wait for the 2009 TL if you can, otherwise get the C230 with Sport package (no charge on C300, $875 on the C230). Also look at the V6 Accord Coupe / maybe sedan, you get so many features and V6 power with a 3, 4 or 6 cyl mode on the V6.

As for the TSX, it should have had about 225hp and 200-215 torque, the 201/181 combo not enough power for what is supposed to be a sports sedan.

Also, of note, the new Accord 190hp motor is identical to the TSX's and runs on regular fuel as does the 268hp V6 Accord. Put premium in those motors and you are likely to get another 10-18hp. In short, the 4cyl 190hp motor is the TSX motor and the Accord V6 motor is the TL Type S' 3.5L motor but runs on regular fuel.

there needs to be a "former" or "ex-TSX drivers" forum on here.

ye the 09 tl is gunna look nice and the 09 accord is nice to but i dont care too much for power, i never had a german car and i would love to own a benz. my brother might trade his rsx type s for the c230 so maybe we'll go splits with both cars, he can drive the tsx and i can drive the benz. i love acura's but at the end of the day i rather own a benz...

Get the C350 if the C63 is not in your range..... the C350 is very quick.

The only Mercedes I'm really crazy about is the CL500.

I don't really like any of their other cars. I used to like the old SL's before they redesigned them.

The C63 AMG is going to be about the same price as the M3 and the ISF around 50 to 60k, If that's off of your price range get the C300 or C350.

With the 09 TSX and the 09 RL looking the way they do, I don't blame you for jumping ship.

After the disappointment of the 2G (in every area), I'm down to the MB C300 Sport and Lexus IS 250/350.

After 2 Acuras and seeing the Sports4, I was pumped. What a let down with the Camry-style body/dimensions (but fatter) and poor performance.

My .02 is this:

1. The ugliest Acura in the past 10yrs is the facelifted Gen2 TL (the one with the big front headlights, not the sleek 1999-2000 headlights).

2. The facelifted front end of the RL looks like a previous gen (perhaps 2nd gen Toyota Avalon -sedated/bland)

3. The TSX/Acura is trying to go with the "in your face grille look" and although it looks a little bit better on the TSX than the RL, the TSX from the front resembles a current gen Camry/Camry SE. Although it actually looks better than the previous gen front end largely b/c the black plastic is now absent, the rear/taillights/trunk looks light years ahead of the previous gen TSX which resembled a 1997-2000 Toyota Camry rear.

4. The TSX's biggest shortcoming (aside from the nose if that bugs you) is its engine is still a few horses/few torque short of sufficient. Although it puts out roughly the same power as the 2.5L V6 on the C230, but with a 4 cyl, so I give the TSX credit in that regard.

As for the Lexus IS, the interior is nice, but the rear bumper/taillights/trunk looks like a Hyundai Elantra... Be it Acura or Lexus, I guess you can't please everybody, but if I were to buy a premium car, I would like it to look like what I paid for it and have a unique style to it. Everyone's got their opinions, but the only shortfall keeping me away from a TSX is that, although it is shares a similar interior and engine to the 4cyl 190hp (on 87 octane) Accord, the engine needed to have a few more ponies/torque... being a Japanese car, it's not likely that you can have the ECU chipped or flashed like Euro cars for a few extra points of power in addition to a CAI or short intake.

In my view the new C-Class is quite nice, although the HVAC centre stack (the buttons/black plastic) is not as nice the one in the B-Class for some reason, the C300 is your best bet as it has the same motor as the SLK300... Personally, I'd avoid buing the C350 as, it appears to have a detuned version of the SLK350's motor which has
32 more HP and 7lbs more torque . I guess that's what the C63 is for..

I guess it's okay to discuss other brands/preferences here. Mercedes C-class all the way, especially with its Agility Control electronic sensing suspension, RWD and nice seats as well as pop up LCD. edit: forgot to mention Benz has optional 4-matic which uses almost no extra fuel (on the C230/C300) compared to RWD versions.
