Thinking about converting 04 tsx to navi?

How much should I pay for a tsx navi? Also is the install easy or fairly difficult? Where would I get the navi from? Thanks!

Converting to navi is quite a hassle. Most people selling the navigation unit does not include the plugs needed for the harness. Some are lucky enough to find a complete harness.

Here is a guy on ebay selling the tsx navi with a "complete" harness.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA...spagenameZWDVW

You might need to confirm with him and other members that did the conversion to make sure that the harness is indeed complete.

"This factory system is the top of the line, so you should never compare this system to those portable, primitive, and small GPS units that you can buy for around $600."

This foolproof argument renders the navi-not-worth-it thread laughably useless.

Although he made some typos, too many zeroes on some of these numbers

Your TSX will be worth $4,000 more with the navigation system installed

If you go to a dealer to have the system installed, the dealer would charge you over $10,000 to do this job.

Regardless of his "nonintellectual" statements, he have sold quite a few complete navigation kits with satisfied buyers.

well put it this way. my navi dvd drive just broke, and i'm out of warranty. the dealer quoted me 4000 dollars JUST FOR THE DRIVE. not even including labor. acura client services did the same. i'm going to ebay and actually checked out this guys auction. however i dont need an entire system. youre better off doing it yourself and shopping on ebay.

Wow, 4Gs? A DVD rom by itself is cheap. Is that a million percent markup or am I missing something?

yeah it basically is huge mark up for no reason. how can the entire system be a 2000 dollar feature, and one component of that system be 4000 dollars by itself? insanity.

The map covers all the continental US states, and all lower Canadian states.
Unbelievable.

I'm wondering if the quoted $4,000 for the dvd drive is for an 04 version? Maybe they don't build them anymore, and they'll charge you to have their factory make one for you? Not only are there hardware changes, but I believe the plugs are different (hence why only 06+ can do the back-up camera "hack").

Now if the TSX is actually an 06...it would be better to buy a $2k navi system, and then sell the monitor and stuff to someone who wants to add an oem monitor, but use it for something else like tv or whatever
