Think i found an easier way to remove the center console
Not sure if this is in the correct forum.
Instead of taking a screw driver wrapped in tape and trying to pop the center console out by prying from just behind the e-brake, I took a pocket screw driver, the real thin ones, and wedged it between the top of the console and the sides and just pryed on it a little and just worked my way up towards the front of the console. No marks/gouges and it didn't take much pressure so less chance of braking things.
Just suggesting it if anybody is uncomfortable with removing it the other way.

after you remove it once you should be able to just use your hands from the front. Or do what I did which was leave one of the clips off in the front, it wont rattle because it fits tight around the edges, but makes it easy for me to gain access if I need to.

i did the same thing and i actually indented the bottom of the console with the flathead. less chance of damage if you pop the back clips out and start pulling upwards from the front towards the middle.

If you were to put a scratch on that center console, you'd see it every day, and it'd be a good reminder not to do that kind of thing again.

The (not an) ashtray pocket is held in place by four screws - two on the top and two on the bottom.
On removing the center console, I used the rubber-coated handles on a set of pliers and inserted it near the back of the emergency brake and that worked very well.

I'm assuming you've removed the storage bin just above the not-an-ashtray compartment? If not, just put your hands in there and give it a good tug and it should snap loose.. disconnect the bulb and set that bin aside and that should reveal the screws you're looking for.
FWIW, when I pulled out the whole center console (containing the storage bin and armrest), the front most screws were hidden below some plastic in such a way that reaching in there would be difficult unless you have really small hands.

thank you
someone had explained it to me but maybe i got confused or the way he wrote it was misleading.
i thought you had to remove the 2 bottom screws, take the ashtray thing out
and then 2 more screws to take the pocket out
so basically i took out a lot more stuff than i needed for nothing
the stupid bulb in the pocket goes on and off randomly
do part stores sell these bulbs or is it acura only?
