Thermostat Change
What is the recommended maintenance for thermostat change?
Anyone had issues with factory thermostat?
My 2007 has 130k miles and I'm changing my faulty radiator fan and a few other easily accessible coolant parts. Just want to know if it is necessary to change it. If it is a low failure rate part, I will just leave it alone.

I did a water pump on my car at 100k miles as part of maintenance. I used OEM Honda coolant. So...I changed the thermostat because I didn't want to have it fail later down the line and have to drain the coolant and do the work over again.
It was a huge pain in the ass to do the thermostat though lol. Its more difficult than it looks to get to all the bolts. I eventually gave up and just removed the radiator to make everything accesible.

I took a look at it from under the hood and I thought it was too much work. You have to locate 3 screws blindly and remove them at a tight spot. What worries me the most was not being about to see if everything lines up when pulling it back together. Maybe better access from under the car.
Removing the radiator is your best bet. Its fairly easy and you have full access after that.

It's consider a low failure rate part. If it's not broken no need to fix unless you want to.
But make no mistake, first sign of over heating, that's the first part I'd be changing because that part will make or break your engine in a heart beat.

A failed HONDA/ACURA genuine thermostat will almost never cause over heating. Its a fail safe thermostat. It fails open. So the car will have trouble reaching and maintaining temp.
That's a much worse situation. No heat in winter? Bullshit.
