Test Drive 07 TL: What a disappointment..

I test drove 07 TL/Navi today thinking to trade in my TSX but what a disappointment. I can say its faster and luxury car but it lacks dynamics of driving compared to TSX. Slow throttle response and numb steering..

One thing they did get right for 07 was the display for the A/C and radio on the non-navi models...

I'm sure the handling can be fixed by investing in some coilovers + Rear Sway Bar upgrade.

If I was going to replace the TSX and stay with Acura I would look at a used 05 or 06 RL instead of the TL.

If it was up to me I would have chosen the TSX over our current TL. Not to defame the TL, it is a wonderful ride with many amenities, but my taste for driving needs to be more interactive. I feel more at home with the TSX since it pleases my driving sense. The TSX corners, hugs, and steers with more feedback and a sense of sportiness. The TL does attempt to straddle that characteristic but still remains in the the scope of comfort/luxury which is superb if you are looking for that. My only gripe with the TSX is it needs a bit more sound insulation, just a little too much road noise for an Acura.

Might be able to address that with a tire change. I find the OE Michelins to be not only lousy in the handling department but loud as well; overall a horrible tire considering what their replacement cost is. There are any number of better handling and quieter tires out there, and cheaper too.

I agreed with you and that's why I made my TL an Aspec. World of a difference and now my friends TSX feels like it floats unresponsive.

I'll have to disagree. I test drove the TL as well (not quite ready to trade in my TSX - with only 60,000 miles on it - but soon). To me it handles nearly as well, rides a bit better, and and offers more acceleration and features. I don't see the TL as a big upgrade on the TSX, but it is an upgrade.

I was given an 07 TL as a loner. I was glad when I got my TSX back.

Its ok, but to me it would need some mods to make it decent.

went back to dealer to try out TL-S. its more engaging to drive compared to base TL. better throttle response, steering feel, and better braking. but still its not much fun as driving my TSX. maybe its not a good comparison since mine's modded. although it lacks some engagement compared to TSX, its very solid and well built car. love that paddle-shifter and two toned interior.

btw.. they have 07 PWP/Ebony/Navi TSX in the lot and that ones more tempting to buy

I was bored one day and decided to test out a TL-S. I was sorely dissapointed despite the improved looks and power.

This may come as a surprise, but I found the base TL + aspec more fun to drive than the TL-S. I guess my main gripe can be summarized as the TL-S actually punishing you for driving it to its limits (i.e. tire traction, torque steer, understeer, etc). Besides, I thought the base 3.2 had already pushed the limits of a FWD car.
