Temple of VTEC

Can anyone give me feedback as to whether Temple of VTEC is a Honda affiliated site? I do not understand if that is independent of Honda. Its a great site but they have access to test cars etc. that goes beyond a simple Honda fan site. There is no link there that gives a background on the history of the site.

Thanks!

Just look at the sponsors link. College Hils Honda is one of the sponsors. Perhaps that's how they get cars to test?

They also seem to have a dealer network

Temple of VTEC started 10 years or so ago as a Honda/Acura fan site. In the last couple of years, the site has grown to be a respected online magazine about Honda products. With it's increased prescence and sway in the online community, vtec.net began receiving journalistic privaledges from Honda. As a member of the press, the guys at vtec.net receive vehicles and other equipment for testing and review. As such, they are not really affiliated with Honda, but instead are a mag that only talks about Honda (and occasionally some good competitors). Go there and look around the forums; Jeff is the head guy there and you can ask him about it.

I've been checking into the "temple" for almost it's entire existance and I've really noticed a change in the reporting. When Honda "brought" them into the press corps, they now had to play by Honda's rules. They might know details on new models early, but can no longer "break' the news. There is no doubt TOV has gotten better, but I do miss the "underground" feel that they had in the early days. Maybe Jeff or Shawn needs to open up another site but stay totally annomous!
