temp gauge indicator slightly below the center mark

May be i am just being paranoid. but my 2 days old TSX's temp gauge indicator is slightly below center mark even after half an hour of running. Is it normal because of the new car?

Did not you read the thread properly? I said it is below the half mark..It is not close to half way. Anyways, those of you who replied, thanks.

That's the normal position. I think if the engine temperature is between a certain temperature range, it'll indicate it by going slightly below center. It only goes below that when the engine is cold, and it goes above it when your car is actually overheating

Well, when you buy anything new with YOUR hard earned money, you expect everything to be just perfect and even a tad deviation from perfection bothers you. Browse the forum and you'll find so many similar threads. It does not mean people are driving for the first time.

Anyways, there are others who can exactly relate to my position. May be you can appreciate it in a 8-10 years yourself.

The temperature gauges of my 2006 TSX, as well as my previous 1988 Acura Integra and 1998 Honda Prelude, all peaked/peak just below the halfway mark, sometimes as much as 1/4 below the mark, and all performed/perform well. I do not believe it is an indicator of a problem or suboptimal performance.

BTW, IMHO, you seem unnecessarily testy, given that you posted the initial query and the responses you received seem reasonable.

You think asking somebody whether they are driving a car for the first time is reasonable enuf? do you want me to point out similar threads where people have raised similar objections/doubts about their new car? I just think there are some great people out there in this community who understand how it feels to be the owner of a new car and don't mind replying to such threads.

As far as being unnecessarily testy is concerned, i am surprised if my mentioning about temperature gauges makes you think that way. there is a thread going on about MID..how starting the car with open door can show you the inst. MPG in your primary display..So there are things that bother people and there is no harm in asking others if they came across similar issues or if they know some workarounds.

Nothing's perfect, especially cars. And even if it is, it won't last for long. The temperature gauge isn't a deviation; it's standard in almost every car...or at least acura/honda. So I guess maybe it's your first time driving a honda/acura? If the temp gauge kept an accurate temperature of your engine, then it'd be going up and down all the time (goes down when you're moving and air is going through the radiator, and it'll go up when the car stops at ar ed light). It'd be annoying to see the temperature gauge going up and down all the time.

As mentioned before, the range of normal operation will cause the car to put your temp gauge to slightly below center. Center does not mean a certain temperature...for all you know, it could mean 0 degrees C (ie: it doesn't mean that center indicates that the car's close to overheating). The range of temperature could be large (ie: 10 degrees wide). The car has to fall out of that range before it'll start giving you more accurate readings on the dial. When you're overheating, you'll know it (it'll shoot close to the end, and only drop down when you start moving).
