Taking the key out after starting the car
Does anybody know if its possible to remove the key from the ignition after the car is started...while still driving...my friend has a '01 CL and his car so i thought mine would to, but it didn't work earlier, mayb i was doing something wrong?

He brought up a good point...I drive alot and I want to change my oil while on the freeway....I guess i'll just set the cruise to 70, remove the key, pop the hood, climb out the sunroof, and throw a couple quarts in. Seems safe, right? Good times.

most car you can shit to N and stop the engine pul the key out, put it back then start engine, shit to D and keep going, this is used mainly for testing, reduce moving part to isolating noise sources. and dangerous for morden car because you lost braking and steering power. however, i don't think you can pull the key out while driving; it would result in a recall by Honda!!

I wouldn't try it, but in my first-gen Mercury Sable, I could pull the key out whenever I wanted. Heck, I could start the car without a key by turning the cylinder with my hands! Fortunately no one ever wanted to steal that car (although I wish somebody would've). I don't think that was how it was supposed to work, though.

I thought our keys had transponders in them anyway so that if someone copied the key they still wouldn't be able to start the car....who knows...thread is still a little weird.
