Question Such thing as a BACK UP GAS TANK

hey guys, just wondering . . .

my gas tank is constantly running out because of frequent driving, sometimes, i find the warning light on. I was wondering how many more miles would my car handle. Is there such thing as a back up gas tank?

Ummmm, yea that tends to happen

You have a about 3 gallons left when the light comes on. And no, there is no "reserve tank" Light comes on, put gas in...Simple...

If you have a TSX with the Nav system you can go into the trip computer and see an approximate range left on your fuel. It's not 100% accurate, but it will give you a general idea of how soon you really need to stop for gas.

However, I would recommend frequent refueling in order to stop the whole running out of gas thing.

I find that the light comes on when I have roughly 2.5 gallons left. I get about 50 miles then.

I've found that I have about 5 gallons left when the light comes on and I'm that guy that sits at the pump and gets every last drop in I can.

But ur right, no reserve tank.

In your description, I would fill up as soon as the gas light comes on to prevent future episodes of running the vehicle out of gas. Or, reset your 2nd trip and after 30 miles max, just for your convenience, FILL UP.

I usually get 50-75 miles after the light comes on myself.

Same here, which seems rediculous to me. Even with the guage on 'E' there's still another 2 gallons in there.

Why don't you have a reserve tank installed in the trunk. Have a manual switch over put in by the fuel door release, then you can drive and drive and drive..........

You could put it in the left and right cavities of the trunk with a fiberglass shell giving it a clean look like the custom speaker installations. Two extra tanks in the back should give you the gas you need at least to get to a station.

The light turns up just before you use up 13 gallons, which leaves around 4 gallons in the tank.

i find that my light comes on, and tells me i have about 30 miles left in the "range" on my 2006.

then i go fill up, and it takes 13 gallons. according to the manual, it's a 17 gallon tank, so this tells me i still have 4 gallons and approximately 100 miles left. but i've yet to test the theory.

I note the odometer when the light comes on and then, conservatively, expect the tank to be empty 100 miles later. This assumes 25mpg for the remainder of the tank but I average 27mpg overall.

It seems to be off by about 20 miles.

If you run it to 0 miles, and check the debug screens, you'll find 2 values; the calculated range and displayed range. The calculated range will show about 20 miles when the display shows 0. (at least on mine.)

Yes, there is a "back up" gas tank. There is a switch below the seat. If the gas runs out, you turn the switch to use the gas in the "back up" tank. I think there is around a gallon (maybe less) in there.

....But you need to trade in your car with a Honda Interceptor to get it.

yea, you have about 3 gallons when the light comes on, but my trip computer was showing that i only had 2 miles left when i got to the pump. Its weird, because i had only driven around 20 milles after the light had come on. I live in pennsylvania, where its kinda hilly..but would it really lower the mpg by that much?

To answer the original question..

Yes there is such thing as a BACK UP GAS TANK.

When your car completely comsume gas and is no longer willing to work with you,

your natural instinct must be, "I AM DOOMED"

However, there is a back up gas tank!

Simply dial TLC via cell phone, pay phone, or even home phone, and say, "I ran out of gas."

In less than an hour, they will come and fill you up with 2 gallons of gas.

or simply.. put the gas in when the light comes on :P
