Brando comes over (in his Scirocco which is teh sweet) and chuckles at our conundrum...

So, we start thinking about how to brace the rear axle. First, we took out the carpeting and spare tire from the trunk and looked for holes. We found a few. Then we started to think of what could be used to hold the axle up...

Duct tape was out, and rope had the possibility of breaking on us at high speed. So, we settled on tie downs.

hehe... I see dzuy is still ADHD...

So we stroll into wal mart and start rummaging through... first, we figured that we needed a jack to lift up the car, so we bought one of the cheapest ones (30 bucks). then we bought two short and two long tie downs with hooks. Tony bought a whole roasted turkey at the food section

You denied the duct tape????

At least you could have secured the tiedowns with some duct tape. It isn't a repair until the tape comes out...

So we got the car off the ground and started to lace the tie downs threw the holes... it was tougher then it seemed since we had to make sure nothing was gettin in the way of any moving parts. Took us about an hour and a half until we thought we had her hooked up.

Brando said that he wouldn't recommend doing any high speeds and to watch out for turns and stand still starts, since the car shifting could make the tiedowns slip from where they are positioned.

Then Brando told us what a POS the Bavaria was just to annoy Andy.

We thought about that, but the tension on the tiedowns were pretty high, and if they slipped off where they were positioned, we highly doubted that duct tape would hold anything in place.

We started out slow... I was tired, but I couldn't sleep thinking about if this thing didn't hold in the middle of the highway.

Andy decided that 60 was a pretty good speed, so we started watching the speedo like hawks. Tony fell asleep (that dude could fall asleep in the middle of carpet bombing) and me and Andy just kept talking about how the tiedowns are going to hold, and how he should call me after he drops us off at Denver if he has any problems.

So, about an hour or so out of Denver, we are pretty confident that this thing is okay as long as the car is travelling steadily and not making any sudden moves. I mapped out a way to my apartment in Denver so that Andy would have minimal turns...

But of course, nothing is that simple. As we approach Denver at 4:30 in the morning and we notice signs pointing out construction on the highway. Great, we have to take a detour.

Junkster, who wonders when I25 construction will ever finish

downtown LA, southbound 110, southbound 405. :sigh: at least we're on the carpool lane.

As we approach central denver, we see that we are going to have to get off at a further exit then planned. So I figured we had another path that would have lots of lights, but would be straight roads with minimal turns.

So we get off on that exit and we make sure not to come to a complete stop at any point so that we keep rolling. Fortunetly, there weren't much traffic at that time in the morning. But As we approached the first turn onto the straight avenue, Andy misses the turn.

Crap, I'm thinking, this is gonna be complicated.
