My dealer told me My new 2006 had a "hidden" stock sub woofer in the trunk .
The acura web site says nothing about this.
Am I a dumbass for believing him or am I a dumbass for not being ably to find it?

Subwoofer doesn't come as an option on the 04,05 or the 06 TSX nor does it come standard with the TSX. If your dealer tells you there's a subwoofer than he is lying to you. Obviously he is trying to sell you the car and he'll tell you what you want to hear.

While these 6x9 drivers may not be subwoofer in the strictest sense -- they are certainly not midranges. And subwoofers don't "come in" at 20hz either -- more like 50-80hz (some say even higher). A 6x9 driver has about the same cone area as an 8-inch driver, so a pair can (in theory) move a decent amount of air. I admit these stock 6x9s are nothing fancy, but they filling the role of the subwoofer. I don't think they are as bad as many people try to make them out to be -- heck they are a lot better than the subwoofer in the RSX-S!

Technically no. As i said before two 6x9 cannot put the same SPL as a single subwoofer can. If you want to keep your 6x9 as a sub that's fine but you won't get the same sound a true subwoofer can imo. We don't add two speakers to get the same cone area that's how it works.

This thread has answered the poster's question and these 2 are taking this thread to a new low. Time to do the
dance.
The only way a 6x9 could be classified as a true sub is if the speaker is not a multiple transducer design (2-way 3-way) and the output frequency is below 125hz. That is what I would consider a sub. Anything made for 125hz - 2500hz would be catagorized as a mid bass or mid freq driver even if it were a 10, 12, or a 15. At my job we use Dynachord alpha speakers which is one of the best brands of speakers for clubs and concerts. The transducers for the mids are 12" woofers, so you really cant say that a 12 is a sub and a 6x9 is not. The transducers are made for what they are made for, nothing more and nothing less.

guess he had no comeback to that oneeither way, the dealer's the biggest retard for saying there's a hidden sub in the trunk.

which proved you wrong......
anyway...those 2 6x9 in the back is Honda version of subwoofer.....they only produce high bass sound but live with it
