stock 6x9 speakers

Are they one way only...
if I upgrade to 2 way or 3 way, will they stilll work...
or am I just wasting my time by doing so...

In other words, are the 6x9's there strictly for bass
and the signal won't support mid and tweeters...

Do you sit with your back to the stage when you go to concert?

gsclifton, why don't you try actually being helpful sometime?

Richard, those 6x9s are only receiving a low crossed-over signal. They're not getting very much mid-range, and no high-range, so yes, you'd be wasting money upgrading them. A better use of the same money is upgrading the 4 door speakers and 2 dash tweeters, or if you're searching for more bass, disconnect those 6x9s all together and feed their signal into an amp and subwoofer setup.

Cheers.

Sometimes it's nice if the people in the backseat can enjoy the music too.

That's what the door speakers are for. But some people remove them for some strange reason. The lows still come from the rear even sitting in the back seat.

I haven't touched any door speakers, and everyone who sits in the back of my tsx says mostly what they hear are the 6X9s. It'd be nice if the speakers closest to their ears were properly balanced. The car is built to listen to the radio from the driver's seat. This makes sense, BUT some would like to change it so it's just as enjoyable in the back seat as it is in the front.

<steps on high horse>

I did post something helpful.
First, this is a REPOST.
Second, the post is in the wrong forum
Third, the post was answered back in other posts from 2003, 2004, 2005, and probably already in 2006.
Fourth, the poster could have searched and found the answer

My post linked him to the correct forum where the answer to his REPOST could be found with both hands, even in the dark.

You and most of the other newbs posting lately obviously were not around when this TSX board was not full of a bunch or rhetorical, feckless crap.

The vast majority of posts including this speaker post have been answered over and over already. Plus, I do not subscribe to the ideaology of "be nice to the newbs, everyone was a newb once." I call BS that AZINE is every newb's first training wheel web board.

Yes, the rear 6X9 is strictly for bass as others have pointed out. You can stick a two way in there but you'll only get bass.

You might wan tto upgrade with a set of mids and highs with a buy going on through an Acuzine vendor that's happening now:

I agree, but only to a point. Upgrading the 6x9 is not a waste of time. Upgrading them with coaxial or 3-way speakers is a waste to the extent that the tweeter will not play anything. Still, you can get upgraded 6x9 from our site vendor elduderino (search for his Avincar speakers in Audio & Video) that will make a big difference in sound. Others have used Alpine Type S 6x9s there with good success as well.

Acutally, I've seen posts where people went to the Alpine Type S 6x9s and actually said it sounds *worse* due to the underpowered way in which they're being used. Personally I don't think there's anything wrong with the stock ones for what little use the factory amp gives them. Way more gains would be had from upgrading the cabin speakers or going subwoofer.

NOW we're getting into a discussion that would be better done in the audio area.
...and i think the avincar groub buy thread is dead.

I don't always agree with you but big on this.

BTW, I'm not supposed to IATL, but hey, it's not like I was here when this thread was going on. :P
