Steering wheel cover

Hi Guys!

I searched about this topic, I can not find any discussion in the past.
I think the steering wheel of our TSX is to thin.
I do not like the leather and wood combination that is available, since I have ebony interior.
Any of you bought/installed a leather steering wheel cover to make it thicker? If so where did you get it? And how much does it cost?
TIA.

I don't think any aftermarket covers would be up to our standards.

I may go to an auto upholstery place to get a quote for having the wheel wrapped by a pro.

Agree. That's the first thing I noticed when I got my TSX. It's much thinner than my Mazda6. But after 3000KM driving on it, I am getting use to it now.

Is that from one of the episodes? I was saddened to see our little Family Guy discussion go down in popularity so fast.

pea-tear-griffon, i think is how it went.

now that the 06 is out with a nice thicker steering wheel, it makes me think theres got to be a way to thicken the 04-05 without sacrificing looks or qulaity.

any ideas?

did i miss another thread about this?

More on steering wheels

Agree the rim's too thin. Did you see the picture of the new GLI steering wheel in the comparo (GLI vs TSX) on insideline.com ? Now, that's a steering wheel! Too bad you have to buy a VW to go with it.

I love the feel of the wheel... a fat steering wheel always reminds me of my Grandma's Buick.

I like to be able to get my entire hand around it and get a good grip (no comments from the perves )

Get you a big fuzzy pink wheel cover.

Or you could buy the new '06 wheel option that has silver where the wood was. '06 wheels are supposed to be thicker as well.

Since youve opened the door to some perversion, do the covers pictured above give the steering wheel enough, well, girth.

Also, check this out -

is this worthwhile?

that may be worth a try.

i dont think stainless steel "look" and plood grain go well together, but my large hands are in pain when i hold on to the seemingly dainty (lack of better word dont crucify) wheel.

I know for '06 they have both a metal look and a wood look wheel. What's the chance this wheel would fit the '05s. '06s have a thicker wheel so I would assume the accessory wheel would be also.

those accessory wheels do not look like they woudl fit over the new wheel which has an inward extending hump above the audio and cruise buttons.
maybe theres a strtchy elastci qulaity to them - either way, i dont like them. I want something that looks good, in dark leather that thickens the steering wheel.

Umm...those are complete replacement wheels. I think they are $500 each. I know they aren't shaped like the new wheel, but since they are an option for the '06 I would think they would have the same shape. I think they might've just used the old pic from the '05 and photoshoped the silver.
