Well, unlucky for me, the other day I was pulled over by highway patrol for speeding. And on that day, I was driving my slowest to work, on avg!
He clocked me at 74mph, 19mph over the speeding limit. I was simply trying to pass a 18 wheeler semi and didn't want to linger too long beside the monster.
I suppose if I had to be caught, that was it - 19mph... 1mph more and I'd be fined at $91 more than what I have to pay ($159).
Anyway, I was thinking that I cannot possibly be the only speed demon TSX owner! Has anyone received a speeding tix while owning a TSX and gone to court to beat the wrap?? I was thinking of going before the judge to explain that I was simply trying to pass a semi and didn't want to be driving beside the truck. I wonder if that would reduce my speeding fine?

Sorry to hear about this!
I've been lucky so far. I haven't been ticketed with the TSX, although I tend to drive an average of 20mph (30 km/h) over the limit. With the car's handling and good power, it's really hard to keep to the 62mph (100 km/h) limit we have in Quebec...

I'd certainly contest it, but be honest - were you sitting at a steady 70+ the whole time?
If so, then it's likely you've been collared for that rather than making quick progress past a 40ft'r.
If not, and you only accelerated to pass it, then use that as reasonable defence - although whilst it seems commonsense and no big deal, the judge on the day may be a stickler for keeping to the limit no matter the reasoning behind not doing so.
As is usual nowadays, we're expected to drive like a flock of sheep - as if a number on a sign EVER dictates what a safe maximum limit is!

Just flat beating the ticket is tough. The judge sees the DA and police officer routinely, and will be inclined to believe them. Does Tennessee have a defensive driving course (good in TX as long as you are less than 25 mph over the limit)?
In addition, when the defensive driving won't work, (you can only do it once per year), most jurisdicitions will allow you to take deferred adjudication, where you are essentially on probation for some period (usually 30-90 days), and as long as you receive no more violations in that period the charges are dropped. This is usually almost as expensive as paying the fine, but never gets on your record - therefore never reported to your insurance carrier.

Sadly, I have a nice little collection of paper speeding trophies, from before and during my TSXhood.
Your ticket situation is fairly simple. Explaining about passing the truck won't make much of a difference. To The Man, speeding is speeding (and revenue). If this is your first ticket or first in a long time, take Tex929rr's advice and opt for school. It's the cheapest and easiest tack.
If not, or if you feel lucky, Well, do ya, punk?, go to one of those ticket clinic places. They usually cost about what the fine does and they can often take care of it.
Good luck, brootha.

If this is your 1st ticket - Goto court,No contest. You never know
Have had tickets in the past - Pay, and take online driving course.
Or get a traffic attorney. He'll throw your case over without going to court.

It's funny, because for a car purportedly as slow as the TSX, it sure begs to be driven fast, and I always find myself speeding. My experience with this "slow" car has led me to the conclusion that I don't need a "fast" car.
My advice: fight it.

I'm not sure, but I think avoiding the fine was part of the issue. Attorneys are not cheap. Besides, 85-90 percent is great unless you're in the 10-15 percent of losers. The advantage to defensive driving classes and deferred adjudication is that they are sure things. OK, you can fail your probation with deferred adjudication, but at least you are in control.
In San Antonio over 800 people appear in traffic court each working day. (The judge told me). Going to court alway has that uncertainty to it.

You're right. I disguised my Saturn Ion as a CGP TSX.

I got pulled over one night doing 93 in a 75 with a bunch of beer in the backseat, which he saw and pointed out (I was on a roadtrip) and I only got a 40.00 ticket for the speeding. I wrote him a check right then and I was out. Lucky me.

I have yet to be pulled over in this car! Only have been pulled over twice prior my TSX and got seatbelt violations instead of speeding tickets.

Well, since I am not supposed to tell you any of these, you have to find out how the system work in TN.
Good luck.

A lot of cops have them now, arggg and since i got pulled over in Connecticut, it was only 2 points and a 300 dollar fine, which really sucks...

Also, I am not supposed to tell you that if the police was no show, judge would dismiss the case by default.

This is easy. You should call and re-schedule the court date couple times. The reason to do this is to hope for the cop to give up going to the court. If the cop doesn't show up in court, your case is dismissed.

This didn't happen in the TSX, it happened in my previous car Integra GS-R sedan. It's also one of my most severe speeding tickets for 120mph in a 65 zone. On the Pasadena 134 Freeway.
End result 30 license suspension, $900 fine, and insurance rape-age
I got off rather lucky, I should have been jailed and car impounded.
