Oops...I shoulda mentioned that. The inital meeting location will be in Rancho Palos Verdes and we will head to Redondo Beach following the drive. The location I chose is good because it allows for easy access to the route we're going to drive.

 

Needs another bump so people remember to check PMs.

 

Oh, and in case people prefer maps, here's one with a red X marking the approximate location of the meet location. The street it is on is called Calle Entradero, but just follow my directions and you should be okay.

Cool. Got the info from this thread. I'll be returning from an out of town business trip that day but my flight doesn't leave Phoenix until 1:27. Doesn't look good for my attendance. If I can switch my flight to an earlier one then I'll try to make it. Looking at the map it looks like the area where all those empty lots are waiting for the million dollar homes to be built. Nice spot.

 

BTW, how did you get that image? When I tried to right click on the map from mapquest it wouldn't allow me any options. I had to go and use Yahoo maps instead.

This will just be a quick meet up because we really have to be on the freeway no later than noon if we're gonna make it north by 2.

Here's the scoop:

We'll be meeting in the remote lot near Sears and the NCTD bus drop-off area.

The easiest way to access this lot is:

From the 5 Freeway North:
5 Freeway North (Los Angeles) to 78 Freeway East (Escondido/Vista). This will be a two lane ramp. KEEP RIGHT. You will be exiting the 78 at the first exit, Exit 1, Jefferson St. (If you pass this exit, proceed to El Camino Real and enter the mall from that road and loop around/back to Sears).

Turn right at the traffic signal from the ramp. You will be on a short stretch of Jefferson but as soon as you pass the first signal on Jefferson the street changes to Marron. Continue on to the 2nd or 3rd light. It will be the first available entrance and if there happens to be a NCTD bus it will be turning in where you want to go. Turn left at that signal and enter the mall. Pass the first stopsign and look for my Carbon Grey TSX with TSX XTC Whale Tale California Tags. I'll be there staring at 10:45-11 depending on traffic.

Important: Remember to bring either $3 or $6 for the 73 Toll Road. ($3 if only using it going up, $6 for round-trip). I believe the Toll Roads has change for up to a $20 bill. If you have a Fastrak transponder from the 15 Freeway Managed Lanes you can use that on the 73 also.

Yup, that's exactly where it is. Ocean on one side, multimillion dollar homes on the other. I thought it would make a nice setting for the meet. I'm glad at least one other person is familiar with the area.

Hmm...I dunno...it just worked for me. Always has. I actually saved it as a picture to my harddrive and then rehosted it somewhere else so maybe that's it.

 

Looks like a nice pleace for a meet. I bet the view is incredible. I ordered springs rear sways and intake from comptech,plus i got the leds from superbrightleds.com to change the int. lights to blue.

I'm sure you all will be able to find the freeways to get to the general area, but here are my recommended directions from each of the various areas...

From Hollywood and areas North of LA
Recommend 101-South to 110-South
Exit at Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1)

From San Diego/Orange County
Recommend 5-North to 91-West
Exit at end of 91 Freeway
Proceed straight on Artesia Blvd. (91-West becomes Artesia)
Left turn at Crenshaw Blvd.
Right turn at Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1)

Alternate route for SD/OC
Recommend 22-West to 405-North
Exit Crenshaw Blvd.
Left turn onto side street, stay in left lane
Left turn onto Crenshaw Blvd.
Right turn at Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1)

From San Gabriel Valley/Riverside/San Bernardino
Recommend 91-West
Exit end of freeway
Proceed straight on Artesia Blvd (91-West becomes Artesia)
Left turn onto Crenshaw Blvd.
Right turn at Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1)

The remaining directions are the same for all routes
Continue down PCH.
Left turn at Hawthorne Blvd. For reference, you will see this Best Buy on your right.

Continue straight on Hawthorne. It will climb for a period and then you'll head down and be able to see the ocean.
When you reach the end of Hawthorne, proceed straight through the intersection shown below.

Proceed around the curve and you will see a small parking lot on your left. Park here and wait for everyone else to show up.

Enjoy the view and mingle!


Places to eat...
There are places on the Redondo Beach pier including a number of seafood restaurants and an El Torito.
There is a Chipotle and an In'N'Out at the Torrance Crossroads on Crenshaw.
There is a Cheesecake Factory in Redondo Beach.
There is a Crab Shack in Redondo Beach.
There are a couple different small bistros in Redondo Beach near the ocean.
There are a number of good Thai places in the area.
There are sushi places abound.
And of course, more restaurants in Hermosa and Manhattan Beach, which are all just a short drive away.

I have some bad news, folks. Due to a rescheduling in my DC plans, I will be unable to make the meet. I would send my car to represent me, but I don't trust anyone else to drive my car. Still, I hope everyone else shows up and has a good time. If anyone would like to take over as organizer, please PM me and I will respond with the information on the PV drive route and any other arrangements that need to be made.

Hope everyone will have a good time and slo, if you get that sand replica TSX built, I want some pictures. Anyhow, I'll be with you guys in spirit. Enjoy and maybe we can do this again soon when I can make it as well.

Getting Springs put on tomm. Did the Blue LED Light Mod..all I can say is WOW.. Cant wait for the springs.

 

Pic of Tanabe Sustec NF 210 springs. This things are great. I will need a rear camber kit but WOW the ride is worth it. I also put on a fresh coat of NXT.. Pics enclosed.
