So uh.....what idiot has done this?

Winter.....Snow......Empty parking lots......

The perfect ingredients for a good time. Or a disaster.

For year, I've gone to empty parking lots to test out the traction control, donuts, spin outs, etc. Tonite, got a little to close to a wooden fence and smash! Hit the front passenger corner of the car and the corner of the bumper dismounted from the chasis. any other cool stories???

I do it every time theres a good amount of snow... however I know what im doing, and have never hit something, thrown a weight on the rim, but thats really about it... Personally I actually feel that this is a good thing to do. Really helps you learn the way the car reacts in the snow when its sliding, its actually a good thing to learn... + its a ton of fun lol...

Its not even fun in a FWD car. Borrow something with a working rear axle and really let it loose for a good time.

It is good for learning how the car feels / behaves / reacts to slippage in snow and ice.

You can do it in FWD cars — just need to have some handbraking techniques. My dad used to do handbrake turns in the snow when I was growing up just to thrill my friends and I (he was a champion autoslalom and "Dice on Ice" driver). After my skid control school training, I used to do it in my Civics in the winter when I had girls I was dating or buddies in the car.

I've tried it in the TSX, but with snow tires and VSA, it doesn't work as well. I'm sure RWD would be more fun.

Oh, and I've never broken or damaged anything doing it (car, person or property).

That was the main reason I did it. This was the same way I learned how the repsonse works in my old RL, minus the fence of course.

Fortunatly, the was no physical dammage to the car (i.e scrathes, dents, etc) I took the bumper off, popped some of the trim pieces back into place, anfd reattached the bumper. Looks like nothing ever happen. Now I just have to live with the shame

The first winter with my 88 Accord Exi I was practising left foot braking in the snow in a largely deserted communty centre parking lot; there was one parked car, and some lamp posts, which I was driving around. I'd been having fun for 5 minutes or so when I notice there's a guy waving a hockey stick, running after my car, and the door of the still parked car is now wide open, and the light is on. Guess what was going on in that snow-covered car...

My buddy's sister was blasting a mustang convertable down a street where a lot of leaves were in piles. She blew through a few of them and then found one that was hiding a big cement something or other. Frame damage, sump destroyed, etc. etc.

I've done it before, the TSX on stock tires (esp at 40K miles) is horrible at stopping and going in the snow.

So I bought a set of Yoko yk520's and I love them... I've never hit my car while sliding around the parking lot.
