Simple remote start

I did some searching on here and it seems like everyone wants all sorts of features on their remote start. I just want a simple small remote that starts my 2006 TSX.
I put a cheap one on my wife's Honda Accord and it worked fine, but that was 8 years ago, and I'm sure the electronics of a car are more complicated now. I'll be doing the installation myself.
Any recommendations on a simple setup? I don't need a 50 mile remote, or start confirmation, or stereo buttons.![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Just a basic starter.

You can pick one up from CCity cheap now and they will do the install for you for free. My boy always does my electrical stuff and our TSX isn't too hard to work with but it's just tight fits everywhere and a headache to find the right wires without a proper diagram. I would jus go to Best Buy or CCity and have them do it since usually after you buy it you get the install for free.

i remember a while back on autoblog, some guy took his civic si into circuit city to get a stereo installed, and by the time they were done with it, his car had thousands of dollars in damage b/c they had no idea what they were doing. i think he was able to get CC to pay for all the damages. but yeah. i wouldn't trust them either.

Agreed. The kids at CC/BB will never touch my TSX. I have a buddy who runs his own car audio/video/RIMZZZZ shop a couple towns over if I ever want something like this done. I've considered a remote starter but my car's a 6MT, and all it would take is leaving my car in gear ONCE to make me regret the decision...

I had a Viper 5101 installed into my 2005 TSX recently. Believe me, you don't just want a basic unit--you'll want one that can open your trunk and unlock your doors as well as starting the engine.
And I absolutely would trust a big-box electronic store for this. I had mine done by a certified Viper dealer in my area that installs dozens of these things every week. The tech told me that Acuras have one of the most complicated electronics system and that it took him far longer to get it done that he had anticipated.
And, once it was done, I had to bring it back three times in two months The first time, the main unit failed, disabling all door locks and lights in the car. Second time, the remote stopped working and he had to do some kind of reinitialization. Third time, the trunk lock wouldn't work.
Fortunately, these are guaranteed for life so if it does fail in the future I can get it fixed. But it's not something I would recommend trying to do yourself (unless you're an installation whiz), or let anyone other than a legitimate dealer do it.
Just my .02.

yea dude just buy the alarm with the remote starter. the two way viper 5900 online CHEAPEST is 175. not a whole lot to spend. Plus the security and range (up to one mile) of the 5900 is great. with the one mile range, you can start your car pretty far without obstructions. You'd be suprise by it's range.
you really aren't ever gonna be a mile away from your car. because if you need to walk a mile away from your car, why not just drive there?
