Simple gas question
#7
It usually says about 450 when I fill up. I typically drive 75 to 80 on the interstate, except lately since I now have a commuter for work and only use the TSX on the weekends and evenings.

The responses are pretty interesting because I wasn't asking what range you get til empty.
I was merely wanting to know what the display reads for range when you immediately get into your TSX after filling her up.
Shouldn't they all be approx the same? Mine never reads more than the mid 300's

^^^ This is the same thing dude. I believe it changes based on your average fuel consumption. i.e. people who do a ton of highway driving will show higher numbers.

I would have thought this would be the case once you have actually driven off from the gas station. I was talking about filling up and immediatly viewing the range on the MID before actually any calculations have taken place.

MID showed 475 miles just after my last fill up, but I normally don't go more than 425 miles before filling up. Haven't run this car out yet, but I'm sure it will happen one day as I like to know just how far things will go.

I would think the computer estimates a projection of 'miles left on tank' by taking the average miles-per-gallon, and multiplying it by the estimated amount of gas in the tank based on its measurement device. Therefore, people who drive mostly city would have low projections and those who drive mostly highways miles would have higher projections.

The MID range is initially based on your prior driving habits. Mine usually says 398 -402 when I fill up. That doesn't seem to change with my average per tank. When I drove to and from South Carolina last year it still told me the same thing, even though I was getting over 400 miles per tank. On the flip side when I was dealing with stuff related to my Grandmother's passing last month and doing constant stop and go driving and getting less than 20 mpg it didn't change either. I've also never reset my Trip B. Don't know if that has anything to do with it.
