To those crabbing about there being huge blind spots (when in fact they aren't too bad if you can move your head 1")...

You need this:

3G TL blind spots >>>> TSX

You don't know blind spots until you drive a TL. Consider yourself lucky.

I completely disagree with that statement. If anything, I would say they are roughly the same.

Anybody try reversing in the IS250...now that's a blindspot

i've never had a major issue, and i live in a town where it's tough to see at corners. other cars are much worse.

Wow, some people really need to learn that not everyone has the same driving position, and therefore the blind spot affects people differently.

How could the desire for better visibility be a bad thing? Even if you think the TSX has the best visibility on the planet, would a slight improvement be such a bad thing? Some of you make it sound as though it would be.

I get the impression that these cars could come from the factory with a big steaming pile of dog poo in the backseat, and while some of us would complain about the smell, I bet the same group of naysayers here would respond with "it doesn't bother me" or "some of you need to learn how to smell".

I don't see anyone complaining when one of you installs some completely worthless muffler or noise-making intake system on your precision engineered Acura, yet when someone complains about a blind spot or the DBW throttle behavior, the rebuttals are often intolerant and filled with insults. What's up with that?

no one complains cause you are adding performance. there isnt really a way to increase visibility in a car. if you dont like a non modifiable problem like visibility then why did you buy the car.

See, the thing is that driving position does not matter in this case. Everyone that drives is going to be blocked by something unless the car comes with a bubble canopy. You just got to adjust by moving you head. Whats so hard about doing that.

Of course better visibility is a good thing.

Thats pretty gross! I would have the dealer clean that shit up first.

I wasn't making an insult per say. The driving education in the U.S. do suck. It's pretty much anyone can get a license.

Know your suroundings and anticipation is the key. Its not everything, thats why you move/turn your head and check the mirrors as a double check.

Seriously. Obviously your seat position / height / posture are going to affect how much the pillar obscures your vision. If you are one of the people that isnt bothered by it, great. Why do the people who do find it bothersome suddenly need to learn how to drive again? If the pillar is in your way, learning how to drive isnt going to move it.

Theres no need for ignorant replies. People really need to think before they speak. If you have nothing to add to a conversation other than insults, dont hit the reply button. Unfortunetly I know this post will only inspire more ignorance, but whatever. It needed to be said.

I love the TSX, but the pillar is a blind spot. It is important to acknowledge it and compensate for it.

Sometimes though, being a blind spot, it does hide things. Early this morning in the dark I made a left hand turn at an intersection where there were no opposing cars, so I made the turn without having to slow down very much. The lit crosswalk was visible and no one was on or near it, but about 20 feet away in a darker portion was a drunk walking across the road wearing dark clothing. I never spotted him until I was completeing the turn and had to break hard and veer a little to avoid him.

Was it the blind spots fault, the drunk's fault or was I a poor driver, I don't know, but I think the blind spot played a role.

I have also noticed on very sharp curves that it kind of hides where you would naturally look. I just move my head, but I am very cognizant that I am doing it.

I do not find it a big problem, nor one that I encounter most days, but I am aware of it after stopping at a stop sign and I take a second look before entering an intersection.

I love my TSX!

Excited

Well that's definitely questionable in some cases.

A better question is: If you don't have a problem with visibility, then why did you respond to this thread? At the very most, a simple "the A-pillar doesn't bother me" would've sufficed.

Seriously, I bought the car because I really like it. I am still entitled to discuss and point out problems I have with the ergonomics. In this case, the author of the thread obviously notices the same thing as several of us regarding the A-pillar. It is not a show-stopping fault and it doesn't mean the TSX sucks or that we're going to rush back to the dealer and demand a refund.

Until the forum rules dictate that discussions must only revolve around "bolt on" modifications and not vehicle design, everyone should try to be tolerant of fellow enthusiasts who find fault with their car. The only appropriate place to seriously talk about things like that (good and bad) is here on a TSX forum. This would be an even more worthless conversation on a BMW or Lexus forum.

I actually think the driver's side middle pillars (I think the B pillars??) are a bitch when trying to look over my shoulders at the blind spot. They block my view perfectly.

No brains? That's a bold statement coming from someone who actually posted a "sentence" like that on a public forum.

Try reading sometimes. Read and comprehend before you respond.
