Should I trade in my Integra for TSX?
Hi everyone, i am new to this board. i am currently thinking to get a TSX because i love the style and the insurance issue. I have a 2000 Integra GS(LS in the states) with only 32000km(20000 miles) on it. However, the rear bumper is kind damaged. Two dents and couple scratches, don't ask me how this happen. Shoud i just trade in the car or should i fix it first and probably get a higher value from dealer(i know it's not that much)?

For the money that dealer will give you, I would trade it in "AS IS". It's not worth it to spend a good chunk of money and then got rap again when trade it in, you not gonna get more than the price you pay to fix the damage.
Welcome to the club, good luck with your shopping!

TJs TSX:
what do you mean by trade in "AS IS"?
I have been quoted that it will cost around 450CAD or 300USD to get the bumper fixed.
One more question, what value would I expect for trade in from the dealer?
thx

What I meant about "AS IS" is just trade it in the same condition as it is. Most dealers wouldn't even worry about it since their shop can do it better and cheaper than you pay for a no-name shop to do it anyway.
If I have to go through with getting my car fix, and still don't even get what I think I should out of it, makes me feel bad twice and wasting money twice too. ..Up to you, man.

It's almost never worth it to fix cosmetic issues on a trade-in. You won't recoup the cost of the repairs. If you're selling it privately, it can make all the difference though. Most private parties don't know how to inspect a used car, and they just go by how clean the car looks.

GS in Canada is the same as LS in the states. I don't know the LS interior but mine has leather and moonroof. As for exterior and power tran, GS is the same as LS.
thanks for the link satoshi801, I have some general idea about what to expect.
thx for the suggestion

Another question, on my teg, there is aftermarket shocks and springs. If I trade in the car AS IS, what would the dealer do with the aftermarket parts? Or I should put the OEM parts back and sell the aftermarket parts privately.
Thanks
Thanks

even something so small as adding side markers seems to be cause for dealers to depreciate the value of the trade in, so I would think aftermarket shocks, etc. might possibly affect the value.
Have you considered selling the Teg privately? You usually get more than a dealer would pay for trade in, and there is definitely a sub-group if private buyers like aftermarket modifications.

It's not clear if you're asking 1) if you should trade your 'teg on a TSX or 2) if you should fix your 'teg or not because you're definitely trading for the TSX. Hopefully you're not thinking 3) that you need to trade for a newer car just because the bumper is dented!? On the first count, that's your call, the TSX is a nice car. One or two people on this board seem happy with theirs. On the second, satoshi801 pretty much nailed it: don't fix if you're going to trade to the dealer, do fix if you want to sell it privately. I also agree with ricecake, some dealers might actually give you less because of your mods. Good luck with your decision.

ok, the main reason why I want to get rid of my teg is the insurance issue. It costs me too much. No I am not trading my car just because of some damage.
Is that right that some dealer may depreciate the value due to mods?
I am trying to sell the car privately but no luck yet.
Thanks for the suggestion and I am working on my best to have a fair deal. Thx again guys.

WRT dealers and mods, you might find a mod-friendly dealer by calling around to the parts & service depts and see if any are actively selling/installing aftermarket parts. If they do, perhaps your chances of getting a better value for your trade are better. If they have a mod-happy clientele they may be able to sell your car easier, so in turn might be willing to pay more for it. I think the concern is that some dealers will assume any car with aftermarket parts must have been horribly abused by an irresponsible street-racing maniac.
