should I trade 05 caddy DTS for 06 TSX w/nav

Hi all just would like to hear what you have to say, I have an 05 caddy DTS with 46k on it I just purchased an 05 TL for wife and we love the car, so I just happen to find an 06 TSX with nav and 16k on it at the same dealer that I found the TL at, Should I give up my caddy for the TSX your family has droped from 6 to just 3 my wife me and my daughter that after this year in high school will be off to collage. really do not need big cars anymore so what do you all think is it worth the jump to the TSX,

Thanks
Mark

You won't be disappointed. It will not be a "smooth" as the DTS but it will handle much better and seeing that the TSX is one of the most reliable cars out there, it won't give you any trouble either.
I'd say go for it!

How much are they asking for it?
Isn't the DTS FWD?

For one thing, Cadillacs have a very comfortable ride. The TSX will have sportier suspension and be more nimble than the DTS. If the price is right, do it!!!

DO IT!!!!!

Although they are in completely different classes IMO, the DTS is just

TSX all the way!!!

I am thinking that he will be asking some where around 24 25 for the tsx he is always on the high side of things. But has the rep that if some thing is wrong will fix it one of the best dealers in our area. and car should still have remander of acuras warranty on it like the TL, He even went as far as to offer to take the TL into the acura dealership for the recalls that needed to be done at no charge to me to take car up and then bring it back.

$24-25K is a bit high for a 06 with 16K, but then Acura/Honda vehicles hold their value well. If your rep is as good as he sounds, better get it in writing.

I am the proud owner of a 06 tsx, bought new, 11/17/06. It has 58,000 miles. The only complaints are the lousy paint that chips easy. Both of the foglights cracked within the first 6 months. They were replaced by the dealer free as a onetime goodwill. I now have rockblocker on them. I highly recommend the car.

Go for it. The TSX is a very different car from the DTS, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it

The ride, power, and handling of the two cars are completely different. The TL would be somewhere in between. See if the dealer will allow you to take the TSX for a half day -- and find a rough road to try it on. The suspension on the TSX can be very harsh to someone used to the soft ride of a DTS.

Also, you might want to test drive a CTS and a Camry before making a decision.

Thanks all just so you know I have had the DTS for 2 years, but in my job I drive a crown vic or a ford super duty 350. before I purchased the DTS I had a GMC Denali XL and as stated just got the wife the 05 TL that you see over on the left and have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler sport for the fun car. The DTS is a soft ride to have and is front wheel drive. At the time that I purchased it. It was to replace the GMC that was taking an arm and leg to fill with gas and still needed big car for family, But now that its just 3 of us I am thinking the TSX just might fit the bill, I think of the ride this way if I still like to drive the Jeep after all this time the TSX ride can't be worse than the Jeep right and I get a car rated at 30 mpgs highway and 20+ city right ? how much more fun can you ask for?

As for the CTS GM needs to fix that nose the thing looks like a bus ugly

FYI, as much as I hate to say it Acura's (at least the TSX's and TL's I've looked at) don't hold their value THAT well. Well enough for an 06 to still be $24k-$25k anyway.

I'd suggest to anyone looking for a used Acura to find a way to get to dealer auctions and pick out a low-mileage off-lease one. I saw 04 TSX's with 40-50k miles going for $12k-$13k, and if I remember correctly 06's were in the $17k-$18k range in January of this year. I absolutely love my car but wished I didn't let my emotions get in the way and bought used (I was picky and wanted PWP/ebony/6spd, bought one of three left on the east coast in February).

i sold cadillacs for some time and i've owned my tsx for 3+ years. to the op, your question comes down to numbers: how much are they willing to give you for your dts and what's the final price on the tsx in question ($24-25k in WAAAAY too high at this point for a first gen)?

pm me with specific details and questions and i think i may be able to guide you in this matter

cheers,
vinny
