Should I buy a 6th Gen Accord as a second car.

I have an 04 TSX with 46,000 miles on it so I want to let it rest for a while so the milage doesn't get any more out of hand. I am thinking about letting my fiance use the TSX for local driving and I get a 2000 Accord for myself.

I found a 2000 Accord LX-V6 for $9900 with 57,000 miles (certified preowned). The car looks like it's in good condition. I'm friends with one of the service techs and with the finance manager at the dealership so I know the car is good.

What concerns me is the transmission.

I've never had a problem with a tranny, but this tranny problem scared me away from buying a 03 acura tl 2 years ago. I wasn't going to spend $30k on a car that could have a serious tranny problem. But this accord is only $10k so I guess it's not so bad. Do you guys recommend getting the car or stay away from it due to the tranny issue?

Also, what do you think of the car? I thought it drove well but felt heavy in the front and didn't handle that great. But overall it was nice.

if you are going to get a 6th gen...u should go with 2000 and up...like what you are thinking now...the 2000 and up has honda's 10 yr 100,000 mile warranty on the trannys...

the v6 is a great engine...it has enough pop to it to drive fast~

btw..my moms accord has 40500 miles that we bought new back in 2000...and its still going strong..no tranny problems....we havn't had any major issues with the car...

hope this helps~

actually 6th gen might be the worse accords yet.. yes it has the 100k warranty and stuff, i got a 99 at 115k on original tranny and still runs strong but a lot of people at v6performance.net has a lot of problems.. a 7th is better... so far..

the only problem i had with my av6 is the alternator.. on its 4th and the car is stock.. stock cd/audio, nothing added.

if you can get it with warranty, should be no prob as 2nd car.. but tsx is faster

Mileage is always an issue, but is it worth investing 10k for a "beater" to put less mileage on the TSX?

Doesn't seem like a good plan unless you were in need of another car.
