Saab 9-3 is EXTREMELY popular...

First off, let me say I LOVE the new 9-3... but its $$$$$$$$$

Anyway.... the amount of popularity this car has gained is amazing...

On my commute to work this morning I counted SEVEN of them.

I've been seeing 15-20 per day! Every single one makes me jealous

Crazy tho... I never thought I would see Saabs in those numbers.

Yes, there are a lot of them out there, but for the money, I don't see how people justify buying them. Although I must say, out of all the ones I see, they all have the 15" or 16" wheels on them, and not many options, because Saab's options are pricey!

Guys, with incentives you can get a FULLY loaded Vector (auto tranny, touring package, sunroof) for $32K with the ARC and Linear trim models at a lesser price. A TSX with Navi and auto probably runs about $28+, no? With 0% financing for 60months, I don't see how that is "that much more expensive" than a TSX.

Soopa, did you see any Vectors?

Here in NYC, I haven't seen to many of them on the road. Once in a blue moon I'll see an Arc or Linear.

For those of you that are interested here are some of nice, high res pics of the new '04's....if you change the last letter in the URL from a "C" to "D", you get the full res pic.

Enjoy!

i rarely see one, i thought they would be more popular. the tsx is killing sales of other cars probably because it's so much cheaper. my sister is leasing one with lots of options for 350 a month. it's a nice car.

well i also dont think the TSX is appropriately priced.... i think at 28k its a ripoff

but ya i see mostly vectors...

and i think the justification is that for 32~k it is IMO the best looking luxury car... and definately the best looking european luxury car fully loaded.

a comparable bimmer or audi will cost you more... and the audis look remarkably similar.

Are you serious? This is crazy. I know you're the admin but let's get the price straight: $26,990 for non-nav, $28,990 with nav. Now find me a sporty luxury car with a manual transmission AND navigation for under $30K. Go.

and i think the justification is that for 32~k it is IMO the best looking luxury car... and definately the best looking european luxury car fully loaded.
Actually, the Saab is American, not European.

Jason its not that simple... fully equipped with nav at 28,990... its not worth that much.

You can get a TL with nav for about that.

26... sure. that i can see.

JIMO.

Also finding a car with nav is no trouble these days...... fuckin Corollas come with navs that are better then H/A's. And you can go aftermarket for 1000-1500.

Either way.... the Saab may be `american` in some weird way because GM ownz Saab.... but Saab is a european company with european designers, engineers, and heritage... and the car is BUILT IN EUROPE.

Technically... by your standards... the TSX is American.

Saabs aren't popular in the NW here, its mostly a harsh NE winter car and appropriately so. I've seen some in California too, but I doubt they're bought for their winter capabilities there.

dont take it personal... but nearly 29k is certainly a ripoff for this car.

dont get me wrong, i love the TSX, and may buy one. but i certainly wont be happy about the price. heh

the car doesnt have 29k worth of technology when you can buy Acuras higher end vehicles for the same price.

the price is all about making Acura a higher end brand... trying to appeal to an audience with more money. its all marketing... its not about the car being 29k worth of steel.

Huh? It's built in Sweden using something like over 50% of materials are from Sweden.

Maybe you are thinking that because GM owns Saab?

Yes, with incentives, if you qualify for it and if your area is acknowleding those incentives. I had a salesman sit down and work with me over a week period, and he could not give me anything below 6% apr, and with all the options my 9-3 Vector came in closer to 34k than 32k. This was without the auto, but pretty much had the same features of the TSX, minus the navigation (as I didn't want it). He spent a week messing with it, and they were only going to give me $4k for my trade-in.

Acura gave me 3.79% apr, and also gave me $5450 for my trade-in. The Saab guy said that unless you had "perfect" credit, it was hard to get the full incentives that they were offering at the time (0% financing or $2000 off I think is what it was). And I have pretty damn good credit...

Oh well, to each their own. If the 9-3 was a little cheaper it would have been more in the running. However, after driving the TSX, I liked it more anyway, all around. So I'm very happy with my decision. However, the 9-3 is a good looking car, no doubt.

Let me get this straight...

You run the site acura-tsx
You don't own a TSX
You think the TSX is an overpriced ripoff
You prefer the Saab

I'm going back to club-tsx...you should rename this site saab-93.

and you guys need to get off this whole "your the admin" shit...

just because im an admin does not mean i can have an opinion.

shit... ive been the admin of CL/TL websites for over 4 years and i think both cars are built like shit

what you get with me is an admin who PARTICIPATES in his community.

my ability to make a website work has nothing to do with my personal opinions.

now if i said.... "the TSX is a complete piece of shit i dont know how anyone could want one" that might be different. but i didnt.

i said the TSX isnt worth the 28,9 asking price with nav. which it aint

correct

correct

i think the TSX shouldnt cost 28,9. i also thought my CL wasnt worth the 32,8 so i didnt buy until i could get it for 30,080 :P

i never said i prefer the saab, now your misquoting me.

oh come on now don't be dramatic

saab-93.com huh? no thanks. i did start this site for a reason... but i guess simply because i own the domain i dont have a right to my own opinions?

i guess because i liked the TSX enough to start the site and want to own one but i dont yet because i dont think its worth MSRP makes me a bad guy. heh... insanity.

like i said... im a member just like all of you. i have my rights to my opinions and maybe my pockets arent as deep as yours.

other then that i just keep things running.

You don't see it? 32 minus 28 equals 4. That's four thousand dollars. $4k isn't pocket change for most people. Is that $32k saab equipped with navigation? If not you'll have to compare to the $26k non-nav TSX and get a $6k difference. I think that's pretty substantial.

That being said, the 9-3 is a beautiful car (the best looking Saab ever, IMO). And I don't fault anyone who buys one. It's just too rich for my blood.

why would i ban anyone? yall can have your opinions just like i should be allowed to have mine. lol

yes i own a CL-S

Clutch: im with you 100%... its too rich for my blood... just like the TSX is. and your right... the saab doesnt have navi. but it has many features the TSX doesnt and vice versa.

i simply said that the reason people like the Saab is euro look/build/reputation. Saab arguably, has a more appealing nameplate then Acura. Definately so in NY.

Acuras are driven by young, techie types.

Saabs..... doctors/dentists/pharmacists.

and yes clutch is right, 4000 isnt pocket change... thats a full list of mods that could be done to the car.

neither is the 2000-3000 that the TSX is overpriced. eventually they will be sold under MSRP... and then... I will buy one.

donut: a dealer demo for 22k? maybe... i dunno depreciation on this car yet but thats possible. id think a fully equipped TSX/NAV demo with couple hundred miles or thousand miles on it would be in the 24-25 range. so yea 22 for a base TSX is feasible

Funny you should say that the majority of owners over at at the Saab site (and prospective owners) are Engineers and Computer related professions. And of course, some of the ones you mentioned about.

And not for nothing, speaking about other cars seems to be taboo. I for one welcome car comparisons at any enthusiast car forum that I may want to peruse. There's nothing wrong with praising other cars even if you don't own one. I think discussion threads about others cars (in and out of the same class) gives great perspectives on the car featured at the site as well as other cars out there. It really helps those that are still in the decision process. For those owners that have the car and don't want to hear about other cars, that's what the other threads are for.

Just my 02.

Cheers!

NYC is composed of more than just Manhattan!

Parking in the boroughs (in apt buildings) can range from $95 to $150 a month. Not too bad.

soopa, you said you could get a TL/CL for less than 29k, which is true, but you have to realized that the TL/CL at that price is a end of model yesteryear's car and the dealers can't get rid of them fast enough. The new TL on the other hand will most likely be close to mid 30s, so as you can see Acura is moving all of their models up, not just the TSX.

I don't know maybe I'm just uninformed but to me Saab = Quirky.
Jerry Seinfeild commonly comes to mind. I'm not quirky so it just ai'nt the car for me. But the new 9-3 is definently the most unquirky Saab of all time and its definently a looker. Just be happy we all don't drive the same cars.

where in NYC? and isn't it a pain to have to walk blocks to your car?
For those buildings that have garages, most are right where the building is. My apt has an indoor garage attached to the building. I don't have to go into the elements to get into my garage. Nice.

Translation...
Translation....you are immature. Some of us (including people here) have worked and studied hard to get where we are in life. If it be that some can afford more expensive cars, so be it. Whether you like it or not, cars have demographics and buying patterns, if people like you represent the Acura-TSX community (which I know it doesn't) then I am glad I am moving away from Acura.

Grow up.

that hurts:'(

duh! thanks for the demographics lesson professor. My point is that your suggestion to choose a car more for its prestige factor is immature. Do you want to measure penis size next?
