s2000 engine
just a quick thought...
im not the type of person into ricing cars to the extreme, but would the 2.0L 240 hp s2000 engine fit into the TSX? I think it would be the ultimate mod for pure racing enthusiasts who own a TSX. You would lose .4L, but gane 40 hp. does anyone know if the loss in L/gain in hp would make difference (if the engine would even fit properly) just curious, thanx

i don't think it will just be a matter of swapping out engines. you have to modify the front axles and find a rear differential. in the end, it would be a better choice of just buying an s2000.

yeah i never knew the s2000 engine was a v-mounted one. many people (including myself for a time) think acura should offer a v6 option. i think what is holding them back is the design of the car. The euro accord has only enough space for the 2.0 (or 2.4L, i forgot), and the TSX is obviously that car. Unless Honda changes the JDM Accord to offer a 6-cyl option (which i doubt, because the Japanese market likes 4-cyl family cars), then the TSX will remain a 4-cyl. But hey, our engine is a damn good one for the Lbs./Ft. Torque and amount of cylinders present. But to think of the possibility of an S2000 engine in a TSX was a fun thought. thanx for the responses.

one more thing gocubsgo55, putting the s2000 engine in the TSX would result in slower acceleration times. don't just think that bc the s2000 has 240 hp it will automatically improve acceleration. you're adding 500 more pounds to the engine plus yourself. but hey, it never hurts to dream.

I believe the consensus is this: the TSX is the Euro/Japanese Accord. It was build around a transverse 4 cylinder engine. It won't be V6'ed anytime soon because that would require re-chassis'ing. I would guess the longitudinally-mounted engine of the S2000 would be equally unlikely because of the transverse/fore-aft difference.
It would seem that the "tunes" in store for the TSX would be internal, related to cam/valves, intake, exhaust, etc.

fyi... vertical and horizontal mounting: I think the terms are transverse and longitudinal. transverse mounted engine typically cater to front wheel drive car (like a tsx), where as longitudinal engines cater towards rear wheel drives like an s2000.

It's been done, but I wouldn't risk the torque loss. Here's what it looks like though.

That's intense. I can't believe anyone would go to that expense for an "upgrade" that probably wouldn't make them any faster. Surely a custome turbo setup would be a better deal.

I have a friend currently finishing his AC Cobra kit car (large chassis).
427 low compression engine
Custom ECU program
Biggest Vortech supercharger (I think it's the 9)
The goal = 1,000 HP (He'll probably make it too).

The FFR kits are amazing. That whole racing series they have is second to non when it comes to kit cars.
Hey Lung, what kit is your friend building? My problem is that I don't fit in most kits so unless I get a longer chassis I'll have to get creative with a saw.
You'll have to snag a few pics for us to drool on...

I'll ask.
No pics as of yet, he's been swamped by work and had a problem with the fuel delivery system.
