rusting calipers
Yeah, my calipers have parts that show some rust. I don't know if it is permanent though. I was wondering if it had anything to do with the loads of salt and sand they use up here during the snow storms.
After a rainstorm, there is also rust on the rotors, but I believe that is normal.
Also, I've been noticing some rust spots on my wheels. I'm going to see if I can remove it when I wash/wax my car this weekend.

Seriously though, there's enough rust that forms on the surface of rotors to create a dusting of rust on the calipers. Wipe them down and then see what it is. And as someone mentioned earlier, some brake dust does tend to rust as it is partly metallic.

I had my stock front calipers on my Eclipse turn the exact same color.
Read this carefully: The sliders on that caliper NEED TO BE GREASED!!!!
Have you recently had a brake job done? If you have, bring it back to the shop that did it. If you haven't had your brakes worked on yet take it back to the dealer. ]
so yeah. funny thing about taking it to the dealer. went in for my 20K service, and forgot to mention the calipers because i was trying to remember something else for them to check. they didn't say a word about. even went so far to say that everythign was fine. or was it great? c'est la vie.
i'll probably take it in next week, maybe? whenever i get free time. i'm thinking afterwards i can paint it.
(and no....haven't done anything to the car other than maintenance)

Have you taken it to the dealer yet the 2nd time around?
I'm getting it looked at this weekend, along with my brake rotors which are going to be replaced (they don't resurface rotors, they say they just replace them). Even better.
btw, my calipers look exactly like the one pictured. it's even in the same area and it's on both front calipers. the rear calipers appear fine.

I saw an SLK the other day where the entire front caliper was rusted. Took a picture of it in case anyone was interested. I think that it is a condition that depends on where you live, various road conditions, and other factors. However, if you can brush it off with your finger, then it really isn't a problem to worry about.
thought some of you might find this amusing:
so i got around to taking my car into the dealer to look @ the calipers. according to the tech, this was normal because the metal was out in the open and wasn't being protected by anything. of course, i'm thinking duh. and he goes on and tells me that the samething was happening to the rsx's and what not. but if i was overly concerned about it, i could paint them. so there you go.....a "certified" acura technician is giving you all the okay to go paint your calipers!
