rpm cutoff in neutral?

i have a 5AT.

today, i had it in neutral when i was reaching out my window to use an ATM. while i was stretching out, i accidentally jammed my foot on the accelerator. kinda funny...i was wondering who was revving their engine since it was so quiet that it sounded like it was off in the distance somewhere...even with the window down. anyway, by the time i noticed it was me and let off the accelerator all i saw was that i had revved it pretty high...i saw the needle falling somewhere from 5000-6000rpm...so i'm guessing that i had it close to redline.

what i'm wondering, does the 5AT tsx have an rpm cutoff when you're in neutral? and does revving when you're in neutral do any damage?...or did my idiocy have potential to do damage?

Tony,
Are you talking about a cutoff in neutral only? Because the redline is past 7000.

The fuel cutoff in neutral is 5000 rpm for AT and 4500 for MT. It can be slightly lower when the engine is cold.
