Road trip Experience( Sunny Side Acura(Boston) Vs Bridgewater Acura (New Jersey)

Last week i decided to take my 2006 tsx to Boston.Last 70 mile to go I start getting Wheel vibration at highway speed and also while braking.

Rotor and bake Pads were replaced 4 months ago( 4000 miles).

With No appointment i drove to Sunnyside Acura in New Hampshire. They took my car in $50 just to check what going on( didn't have a choice there). Guy comes back Say All tires Need to be Road Force Balanced and Rotor need to be Re cut. Where i told him the rotor/brake pads are new. He say AS PER Acura NEW ROTOR are Supposed to be cut on the car . He called Bridgewater Acura and they said that not needed with brand new rotors. Any he came back with a List of thing to be done. Argument went No where.

$271 rotor re surfaced
$64 All tire Road Forced Balancing
$110 Brake Fluid need replacement (was done at 29000 miles now the car has 43000)

So i decided only to go with Balancing

Total $119 ...

Only the way back Car drove with No highway vibration

Braking vibration was minimal.

STILL CONFUSED ABOUT BALANCING ALL THE 4 TIRES.

I always have the tires balanced when I get them rotated. The original OEM tires on my 06 tsx lasted 74,000 miles. (rotated and balanced every other oil change). With the Yoko's I now have on the car, I have it done every oil change. My car has almost 90,000 miles. Still have the original brakes and I am getting the brake and manual transmission fluids changed in Nov. (when my car is 3 years old)

I hate when they try to tell you that you need to do things you don't need to do. Balancing is the only thing I would have done.

As for the braking vibration, you might have some pad deposits on your rotors. Try re-bedding them and see if that helps.

wheel vibration at highway speeds equals new brakes to every Acura tech at every dealer every where. especially after the 2 Gen TLs had so many problems with brakes.

Interesting. I had my tires balanced twice at the shop where my brother works (he did not perform the work) and the steering wheel still vibrates (not when braking, just driving) a bit at highway speeds. In my case it should have nothing to do with the brakes or rotors as I had RacingBrake rotors and pads put on the front of my car shortly after the balancing. I wonder what to do at this point because it slightly annoying.

if the tires were balanced and aligned properly when they were installed then they did not have to be balanced with so few miles.

Acura gave me the same crap until I asked them to rotate and balance cause I couldn't afford to replace everything. He balanced the tire and noticed one tire was giving him some trouble balancing. I read in another thread about the tires and rims being easily messed with by the road (curbs, bumps, etc.) and it turns out that I have a bent rim. I have the same problem you do, not so much when I brake but def. at higher speeds lots of shaking. Under heavy acceleration the whole car shakes. Not necessarily a solution but maybe that was what happened?
