If you use a coat of a red transparent paint instead of tint the reverse light shouldn't be too red.

I almost hit a pick up truck the other day because we both were in reverse, opposite each other, in the parking lot. His lights never came on, so I started to move. He backed-up pretty fast, and I stopped just in time.

With a light setup as in the pic, you might get hit by people thinking you are stopped in lieu of in reverse.

I have to say I'm not feeling it but I might change my mind if I saw it in real life. Seems illegal though as pointed out by others.

Typically, back up lights are not required equipment (read: legally required). The only requirement regarding light emitted to the rear of a vehilcle are that they be red or amber while the vehicle is in motion on the roadway.

Generally speaking, there is no regulation of reverse lights, as they are really only used on private property (ie parking lots, driveways).

As long as they do not show white light to the rear while the vehicle is in motion, no problem.

As always, check with your local police to see if there are any state specific requirements.

PS, I think this mod is "dumb as all get out" for all of the previously mentioned reasons.

what is my opinion?
well ill tell you, anyone who finds it necessary to waste time or money "to personalize" the car by changing the color of the lights, needs to have their head examined!

do people actually stand back and look at their car and ask themselves "what can i change on this car to be different" and actually goes to the effort to debadge, change tail lights, or install crap on the car for the sake of looks i think needs help.

wy cant we just enjoy the car as it was intended to? why cant we drive it and just enjoy it for the beautiful machine that it is?
what i dont get is why do these things? the only person who is likely to notice is YOU everyone else couldn't give a crap!
ive been obsessive about things in my life but never a car! as much as i love my TSX i get in it to go to work every day and park it in my garage at night, other than that i dont think about it much or what everyone else might think.
sure i like to get from point A to point B in style but it seems people loose sleep and worry over the dumbest of things!

calm down dude, IMO modding the car isn't dumb and don't need special help, sure the TSX is sexy enough stock, but some of us want sexier, i'm one of them, i'm planning to do some cosmetics to it because i like the car to look even sexier, of course, i like ppl staring at my TSX too, i'm sure some ppl would give a crap about the mods ppl put on their cars, i always stare at modded cars so chill out

back to the topic, i don't like it haha....i wanna white-out the headlights and side signals though

There have been more ignorant things said on this board, but this is still pretty ignorant. You don't know why people mod cars so don't assume. Ass.

And this thread contains one of the most fugly mods I've come across. especially against the ABP.

ohh your a tough guy arent you? i can call you an ass from behind my computer screen also! ASS HOLE!

and i dont car if you think I am ignorant, there is a different between being ignorant and having an opinion.

anyway, it's your car and your money and i have the right of free speech and i used it.
i know why people make these kinds of mods. because they want to be different, i dont agree with it but hey all i can do is laugh at them.

if you mod your car to actually have some bennifit such as more HP or somthing usefull than i am all ears. anything else is rice just like this mod.

i come here because i have an interest in the TSX not because i want to read about how to make it look stupid.

Ooh someone got a little heated. I'm not being tough. I'm asking you respect someone Else's opinion. Mods are done for many reasons, but 95% of the time it's because someone likes how it looks. It's not to be different. It's because they enjoy how it looks

I know this may be hard to accept, but there's no reason to be demeaning to someone simply because you don't approve of their choices and juxtapose your own reasoning for them. That's not what this board is supposed to be about.

I didn't suggest you stay away from certain threads. I simply suggested you be less of a douchebag, but obviously that's an impossiblity. Thanks for the fun.

okay fucker, listen i saw someone do it i figured i'd share it with people who may like it.

its cunts like you that make message boards annoying as fuck, if you dont like it say so and leave it at that, no one asked for your critism beyond that. if it aggrivates you that people mod cars on a car forum, get the fuck off of it, or skip past the fucking thread on your way to finding out how to install a dildo on the seat to shove up ur ass while you're on your way from 'A to B in style'

its a fucking discussion forum, let people discuss.

Dude, I really don't see why you are so surprised people (especially the poster) got pissed off at you. To use your own line of thinking would you walk up to this guy in real life and tell him he needs to have his head examined, that everyone else could give a crap and that it's crap they are putting on their car? If you are even thinking of answering yes to that it would explain alot about you. You did more than just say you didn't like it you directly insulted him. So let's not have the kettle calling the pot black ok? I'm not saying you have to be huggable but don't be fricken surprised when people react to that type of commentary.
Chill Out...please...or don't it's a free country.

Why don't you two children spend less time bitching about each other and more time learning how to be more grammatically correct and improve your spelling skills. It's rather discouraging to see.

By the way, the light treatment sucks.

right anyway... now that I'VE been labeled as the immature one... back to the thing we're all here to do... discuss the mod in the thread...

so how'd he do it? did he use tinting film on the outside or do you think he opened up the lens to do it?

Alright, how is everyone doing? - I'm the owner of the car in question. Here it is for all to hear:

I liked the way the redout looked in combination with the debadged rear because it made the back end look so smooth and flowing. If you guys don't like it, that's fine by me, we all have our opinions - that's why I drive the car and you don't.

Many of you are here to learn about modifying your car. I personally try to be a little more original than slapping an intake on my car and calling it customized.

The picture that was posted is rather out dated, and, looking back it does not look all that great. Here is a picture of the rear end of the car as it stands today. I personally like it, but that is only my opinion:

and few other shots to show the whole car:

You guys are quite right - the red out is simply a red piece of film that is attached to the outside of the lens. It is essentially a semi translucent water apply decal. I bought the film from http://www.jmods.net/ but it's just Oracal vinyl film, you can get it all over.

Now to step in and defend a few of the members of this board. I spoke with Bass Mechanic about two years ago. He was rude and condesending then, and it seems that he has not gotten any better. I respect people's opinions, that's why I enjoy participating on message boards but there is a method of interaction that is appropriate, and then there is the behavior that he exhibits here. It's just the internet, don't get rialed up over a piece of plastic stuck on a car. If I remember correctly you have aftermarket wheels on your TSX. So if we apply your own words ("if you mod your car to actually have some bennifit such as more HP or somthing usefull than i am all ears. anything else is rice just like this mod.") then by the same token your car is rice, right?

In case anyone is interested here is the list of currect "ricey" aftermarket accessories that I currently have installed:

relax man, when you buy a house, do you just leave it like it is or customize it by changing the color, adding furniture, etc
we are doing the same to our cars

also, we're not forcing you to do the same, some people love their cars, thus they buy things for it.

and please, stop the e-thuggin

Damn, everybody take a shot or drink a beer.

Everyone has their own opinion. This is a popular mod with the RSX crew. Some will like and others will not. Fact of life. Get over it.

hahahha that made me laugh

everyone is entitled to do what they want with their car. everyone has different tastes. If you wanna leave your car stock, cool... but don't mock people that want to make their car look the way they want.

bassmechanic needs to start his own board called "Stock TSX's and the people who love them"

like pancakes... some like them plain, some like syrup, some like butter and syrup. I'm not gonna be in IHOP telling someone "WHY CAN'T YOU JUST LEAVE THE PANCAKE ALONE INSTEAD OF SLATHERING IT WITH DISGUSTING SYRUP!!!!"

damn, now i want some pancakes

ya but you know after the third bite you're gonna be bored, look down, and go, "ugh, pancakes."

It's true.

edit: BTW, I redout my pancakes. I know, I know, I'll put up the pics soon.
