revenge for victims of door dings

So I was waiting in the car with the engine off in a big municipal parking lot when this last gen MDX pulls up next to me. Old mom with a couple of teenagers in the back. First I notice they pull up real close, so I think hmph, they better be careful opening the door. Before I could even honk the horn to warn them, the back door opens and slams into my car. I immediately go out and inspect the damage. The lighting was extremely poor (and it was night time) so I all could make out was a very small ding and a small piece of paint missing over it. After some yelling and some arguing, I got their insurance information.

So now the question is... can I even get them to pay for a touchup and a paintless dent removal? I was in a hurry to meet ppl so I didn't wanna call the cops to write it up.... I can only count on their promise to admit it to the insurance company. What happens if they change their mind later?

But yea, at least I caught these fockers in the act...

Don't get it, they have a nice car, you have a nice car, why would they do something like that.

Anyway, the next time that happens just pull out your pepper spray and blast them right in the face then drive off. No, just kidding.

If they change their minds/stories later just take a trip past their home one lare night and bring bird feed and strawberry jam. Spread the jam on the roof, hood and trunk then empty the bag of bird feed on the jam.

dude after a long hard day of work, i came to my car (at night) and there was a nice door dent on the rear door. its visible enough to look like a ripple in the water.....and people don't even have the decency of doing anything about it if you're not there to see it happen.
i don't know, hopefully they live up to their oath, cuz thats definitely better than what i got. g'luck with that man! but i heard that fixing those door dents is like...20 dollars if you get a group thing to do it, otherwise maybe like 40.... i dont know about the paint thing though. so its not really THAT bad, but still bad.

Last month my wife was parked at Toys-R-Us getting a gift for our daughter. It was a windy day and when she came out she noticed a large 10" vertical dent in her passenger front door. ARGH. Anyhow, she got home and then noticed that there was a piece of cardboard under her passenger side wiwiper (she thought it was garbage but didn't do anything about it until she got home). Turns out the people left a note and were very sorry for the wind taking their door open like that.

It was hard to actually call them to ask them to pay for it (even though they offered via the note). Honesty isn't too prevalent these days, so it was hard to ask an honest person to pay for the damages. But we called, they paid ($200 for paintless dent removal and a bit of airbrushed touch-up on one small chip in the dent). We were happy, they were happy (I guess they are truly honest people... rare!).

Hopefully the people will pay you for the damages. They'd be wise to pay cash or give their CC number to the paintless dent removal shop, instead of going through insurance for something so relatively inexpensive.

you should've gotten a police report so you wouldn't have this problem of them being able to change their story. just file a claim with their insurance.

BTW, since they took off some paint, if you want it to be factory finish, you will need to take it to a body shop which equals more money.

Heres the best lesson I've learned after being in situations like this.
1. Get everything down in writing. (Get them to admit fault and write it down and get them to sign it with their drivers license information on it)
2. Always have a pen and some form of paper in your car. It could be a note pad, a news paper or even a porn magazine (as long as theres space to write )
Heres the scoop:

I was parked at the mall maybe 3 years ago, and when came out, my girlfriend noticed long white vertical streaks on my prelude's passenger side that stretched from the quarter panel to about 4 inches to the front door. I used to have the autopage autostart alarm that tells you that your car has been tampered with or the vibration sensors have been tripped. Anyways, i examined the escalade parked right next to me, and i noticed these really dark lines on his front driver's side bumper. Obviously I called the police, and while they were coming, the guy came out from the mall and we got into an argument on how he wasn't the one who hit my car and when he pulled in the alarm was already off... well no shit the alarm was already off, it was cause your fat ass car pulled in and you couldn't see shit. The officer showed up just in time, did measurements, determined him at fault, and we exchanged information. I couldn't get a police report because it was on a private parking lot, and since he didn't have his insurance card in the car, i only got his license information... AND I DID NOT GET A STATEMENT. Two weeks later when the adjuster called, he told me the marks on the guy's car does not match up with the scratches on my car.. even though the police officer did the measurements. I had to pull out 400 dollars to do the full paint touch up and polish up those scratched parts.

Lesson learned? Sure did.

Yeah, when my wife and I got our Acuras last month I went online and ordered the Acura mint tin (come with mints ), Acura pens (they come in the 4 pack, and some other :ghey: stuff. The pens & mints are for our cars, anyway the point is to +1 on what he said about keeping a note pad and stuff just in case.

Sorry for the ramble, I'm buzzn on the Jonny Walker red

Oh, forgot to add that when it comes to insurance companies they dont care what the cops say, allot of times they do not concur with the officers investigation.

I've only had mine 4 months... no dents yet... though I'm still parking at the back of the lots With the stinkin' holiday season, looks like I'm going to be getting a LOT of exercise if I want to park away from everybody!

<shudder> I'm really dreading the first dent.... And especially what I might do if I'm there when it happens...

Get over it, i'm not trying to to an ass but shit like this happens. its normal. 1 day after getting my car painted i went to go pick my wife up and a car pulled up right next to me, they pulled really close so i backed up and moved a little further away so when they open there doors they won't hit me.
well the fuckin driver door swings open really hard and still ends up hittin my car. i got out to go look and the dude was really sorry and offered to pay to fix the ding but i told him shit happens just be careful next time.

almost everytime someone hit my car i was in the car only one time i made someone pay and this was when i had gotten my 2000 Tl and finally gotten the MUGEN grill.

i went and got the hood and grill painted and came home parked the car and in the morning went to go to work and well some idiot in his suv backed up and completly engraved on my grill and hood with his stupid trailer hinge.

i was running late for work so i left a note, later he called me and gave me a check for $250 so i can get the damage repaired.
