Resale value of TSX ?
Resale value of TSX ?
Hi All,
I've seen alot of TSX for sale on the forum but most of them don't really have an update on whether it was sold and for how much. I was thinking about selling mine back due the amount of milage I'm putting on it. I have an auto artic blue non-navi that gets about 26K a year. Yeah I know, long commute to work. Instead of selling I just just might buy another really cheap car as my commuter, not sure yet.
But I was just wondering the resale value of my TSX. I called the dealer just to get a price quote of over the phone, he said 20K ,but I'm sure I can negotiate on that.

People have paid less than that for a brand new one.
The dealer might not be too far off - you probably won't get more than $22K for it - unless you sell it yourself and even then not much more than that.
Went through this depreciation exercise back on May 5, so adjust accordingly.....
The TSX invoice is $24,961 and obviously a dealer is not going to buy a used car from you for more than they can buy a new one from Acura!
I dusted off my MBA accounting textbook from (ahem) YEARS ago!
Using the "Sum of the Digits" depreciation method, and assuming a 10 year life and a $5000 salvage value, (10/55) x ($24,961-$5000) = $3629 first year depreciation. So $21,322.
Using the "declining balance" method, with the same assumptions, (1/10 x 2) x ($24,961)= $4992 first year depreciation. Or $19,968.
I'd guess the first estimate is closest to reality.
OCICBW, etc. etc.
I just tried KBB which now lists the TSX, and came up with $21,400 for my 9,000 mile 6M example. I'm still keeping my 150,000 mi. '98 Volvo as a "winter beater", not really to keep the miles off the TSX as much as for advantages like I don't really worry about driving it right behind a salt truck.
The TSX depreciation seems almost identical to the Accord's, retaining 82% of my actual transaction price. Which really isn't bad, the lion's share of a car's depreciation occurs in the first 2 years.
