Park your car inside the garage

1st Erase everything:
hold both the left and right button down for at least 20 seconds... until the light flashes really fast

2nd Teach the car:
select one of the 3 buttons in ur car, hold the garage remote next to it, press and hold the garage remote open/close button, then press and hold one of the 3 buttons on ur car ... until the light flashes really fast. (this tells us that it has learned the code)

3rd Train your garage to learn the car signal
It might vary depend on the type of system you have for your garage.
But here is how I did it. I have a button that if you press and hold it for 6 sec then it will clear all the code. So I pressed and hold it to clear everything

Once it's all cleared, train your garage to learn the car signal

4th I pressed the button again to enter it's learning mode, a light lit up... Now you have about 10 seconds to jump down, open your car's door, press and hold the button inside your car that you just taught it with the remote, now you car should be sending out a signal, and if your garage pick it up, the light of your garage should turn off ... Once it does that, then you are set. Press and hold the button in ur car to test and see if it works.

If not, then repeat the same process again. You might have to try a second time to get it working.

So to sum this up,
1 - clear all code in ur car
2 - teach your car to learn the code from your remote
3 - clear the garage system
4 - using the signal that your car just learned, teach the garage (the remote should work after this too, because your car has the same signal as your remote)

These instructions are also freely available at the homelink website FYI. Do a Google search for Homelink and you will find their site.

Am I missing something - on mine there is no need to clear it, you just tap the "learn" button and then you have 30 seconds to hit the button in the car and allow the homelink system to grab the appropriate algorithm for the rolling code. If you hold "learn" for 8 seconds, it clears...

Why would you want to clear all the remotes?

well if you lost your remote or got it stolen for some reason it's a good idea to clear everything and have the garage door opener learn from your car.. then after you get a replacement remote you can change it back..

Why would you want to program your TSX to open the garage after it's been broken into? Maybe it'll be possible to break into the car and open the garage still? Or did Acura think again and put some security around it? (we know we can't start the car with the immobilizer, but if they can at least get the power going...)

It's easier to do with two people. One at the garage door opener and the other in the car. And if your car gets broken into, you may not want to program the garage door opener. They can get in the garage and possibly your house.
