Reg Rotors (r1concepts+ Hawk HPS Ceramic Pads)
Hi All,
I am planning to replace my front pads . During my last oil change service the dealer told me the front rotors need resurfacing..The brake pads are fine (Only half worn out ..They are the OEM pads that came with the vehicle and i have close to 63K Miles on them)..The rear ones got replaced at around 40K Miles..
I can feel the vibration and slight noise when i press the brakes..So i decided to get new pads..
I ordered the Hawk Ceramics and i am wondering whether i should get the new Rotors as well ( i am thinking of getting one of the following
Power Slot Cryo-Treated Rotor (or Non Cryo Version)
or
Drill Slot Brake Rotors from R1 concepts
Has any one tried the Hawk Ceramics on either of these rotors ??
Thanks
Mars

Burning Brakes
R1 concepts is what ive got no problem's sept for the lil more added brake dust and a squeak here and there (because of the ceramic pads).

Have had the r1concepts D+S since last summer with Axxis ULT and goodridge brakelines. Love my setup. Bites like crazy, easy to modulate. The most surprising aspect was the competence at braking in the rain.....its excellent.

I have the "premium" R1 rotors w/ Hawk HPS pads... installed them about 2 months ago. So far so good too, although I will say that I'm not nearly as impressed with the Hawk pads' stopping power as I thought I'd be based on the things I've read on the forum --- and I did make sure to bed them properly.
With that said, the stopping power is a tad better than stock, it's just as quiet, and it looks great. I love Hondas and Acuras (have owned 4), but I still feel that they severely lack in the brake department. I briefly owned a new '03 Mazda6s (V6 6MT), and sadly, I still wish my TSX had the same brake setup as that. Sorry for the rant...

^^^Woops... sorry --- I just realized you were asking about the ceramics. I was a little torn on which Hawk pad to go with, and noise was one of my concerns... but I can say that the HPS are not loud at all (i.e., no louder than stock), so you should have no issues with the ceramics.

R1concepts front & rear drilled/slotted rotors (ebay, r1concepts) ~140
Axxis ULT front & rear (ebay, r1concepts)~55
SS brakelines (tirerack)~115
Installation at Team Honda, Buena Park~200
Not bad considering what dealers will charge you brake service.
