lgregoir, how quick do you find that 1-2 shift at redline? It seems to me there's a long wait for the revs to come down (to about 4000 or so for 2nd). It feels like:
Clutch in/gas off, shift, wait... wait... wait... wait... clutch out/gas on.
Maybe I'm not used to it yet and just need more practice, but it feels a lot better (faster, smoother) if I shift from 1->2 around 5000 - 5500 and pick up 2nd around 3000-3300. Running it up to the redline in first feels like it introduces a delay.
I've run it up to about 7100 several times, never hit the limiter which I think is at 7200.

Well if it makes you feel any better my 1-2 shifts are only smooth if I shift under 3000. I'm definately going to get it checked out.

They aren't as smooth because of the greater difference between 1 and 2, than any of the other gears. Imagine a stairway that requires you to jump the first step and take gradual steps the rest of the way.

I don't feel any nothiness when shifting at redline... I guess the shift is so quick that I probably would not realize if it's smooth or not...
As for the delay, I beleive the RPM takes some time to go down because of the electronic throttle system . The Computer takes a bit of time to react... The same thing happens when out press the gas quickly, the throttle takes a fraction of a second before going up...

Well, maybe what others are describing as "notchiness" I interpret as "pressure". The 1-2 shift (esp when done in a hurry) requires more effort (force, pressure) than other shifts. To me that doesn't feel abnormal or "notchy", it's just the extra work the syncros have to do on that shift.
Yes, I think the DBW electronic throttle is partly at fault in the slow rpm drop, because it holds the rpms up for a brief moment after throttle lift-off. You'd think that could be programmed to sense when the car is being pushed hard and eliminate that high rpm hold time.
I'd be very interested to know if those who have run their TSX on a 1/4 mi. track (w/ decent times... lol) are redlining the 1-2 shift or shifting earlier to avoid that rpm drop delay and get back on the throttle sooner. I haven't had enough time nor opportunity to measure what is really faster.
