Redline Synthetic Oil or Royal Purple Synthetic OiL
Has anyone used either of these synthetic oils in your TSX and what results did you notice from them? I am planning on switching over to full synthetic oil. My car has around 71,000 miles and I've changed oil every 3000 miles since having my car new in 2006. I was using the regular 5w30 oil every 3000 miles and now would like to switch over to full synthetic.
Thanks.
Red Line Synthetic Oil - Motor Oil - 5W30 Motor Oil
HPS - High Performance Street Motor Oil | Royal Purple

redline...
im using redline 5w30.
and fyi; even with conventional oil, your OCI (oil change intervals) could be a lot longer.
long gone are the days of 3000 mile OCI's.
if you do choose to use redline; ive been doing 6000-7000 OCI's in my TL according the the on board oil life monitor.
however; since I dont track it, I believe I could even reach 8000 OCI's

p.s. you as the driver cannot possible tell the difference between conventional and synthetic oil...
so, if money is no concern....go redline!!!one of the best oils out there.
however; if money gets tight...the regular conventional oil will still do the job
and we know its the best oil out there because of the composition of the oil.
if you check out the product info; you'll find that it has one of the best shear rates.....
you dont want your oil to shear under high temperatures.

Are you sure about that? I've read many people have said the engine runs smoother and more quiet when you put in full synthetic oil compared to the synthetic blends.
You know, that feeling after getting a new oil change after the old oil has been in the engine for thousands and thousands of miles.

How does your car feel using Redline?
Yes, true, but I always wanted to change oil a little early and take care of my car as best as I could. I did buy it new, in 2006. I felt good about changing the regular oil every 3000 miles.

Not planning on tracking the car, no. Just curious of the results people had with their cars using either of these oils. I can get Royal Purple for a much better deal than Redline. From what I've seen, Redline is the most expensive but most people are saying it's the best of the best when it comes to full synthetic oil. I'm not even sure if I need the best. My car has never had full synthetic oil yet. However I am looking forward to switching over after 71,000 miles and regularly changing the oil at 3000 mile intervals.

i promise if some one stuck regular oil into my TL without me knowing; I would still think i would have the redline...
you absolutely cannot tell as oil works at a molecule level
and unless you are SUPERHUMAN, regular old humans like you and me cannot see or tell the difference at a molecule level

You plan to change redline every 3k miles on a daily driven street car? Its crazyness.
Just use regular oil. Your car has run happily for 71k miles on normal oil.
I use synthetic...but I change the oil every 8k. I usually use Pennzoil Platinum since its an excellent 5W30 that seems to do well in the K series, according to other people's used oil tests.

Personally I think its best to use either Royal Purple or Redline for track use, and as for difference between conventional oil and synthetic oils, synthetic oils have better temperature ratings for hot and cold conditions, engine operation, lubrication and oil consumption vs conventional which is just your base oil with no special additives. But I'm with you there at OCI every 3000 miles, I use Pennzoil Ultra, best full synthetic of what Pennzoil has to offer and I've tried many different brands before, I'd hate to let my engine run for more than 3000, and of course you can't really feel the difference of the oil but it does make a big difference in engine operation and of course the main reason of why engines begin to leak and fail (excluding parts) is because they aren't changing the oil in regular intervals
