redline

alright, i was in a hurry this morning, and well, i had to speed...i hit the gas after a light and i start to hear my engine getting loud(of course...). well first of all, i thought i had it in SS so i take my hand in a hurry and hit it up into nuetral!...all of the sudden the rmps go up and i was in the middle of the redline which is about 7500 i guess(yes, i know, i should have just let go of the gas right away). it was only there for nearly less than a second when i hit it right back into drive. it drove normal after that, i was just wonderin if this can or actually could have caused any damage to the engine if it was on there for only a second??

You didn't do any damage but it's strange that you didn't hit the lower fuel cut at 5500rpm.

No you didn't hurt your car, I take my car up to 7400 now and then when I'm having fun, the rev limiter is there for a reason and Honda engines are just fine going into redline. If you look at RSX owners w/ K-Pro they move their redline up w/ no problem.

Because the lower fuel cut limit is for when the car is stopped.

Pushing the gear shift into Neutral, from Drive, a couple of times encouraged me to stay away from Auto and use SS nearly all the time.

My second-to-last speeding ticket was in Texas on Hwy. 90 East of Del Rio, about half-way between Brackettville and Del Rio. I thought the odds were pretty low of being stopped out there on that dessert. They weren't low enough.

RED-line = 7.000.
Your dealer can check the max. revs......
Take care off your warrenty.
There was here a tread about that problem, iff I can find it back I let you now.

its 7100 specifically, and the ECU wlil only really hurt you if you ishift and over rev the fuel cutoff

dont worry, your car has a redline for a reason. you ever see those idiots sitting at stoplights with their foot planted bouncing the revs? if they can do tha you CAN bounce the revs sometimes without worry. the redline is made to make sure you dont do really big damage.
