most likely you were bouncing off the rev limiter

Wow, it's actually pretty hard not to notice your engine is revving at 7400rpm.

Its called a rev limiter. Its there to prevent you from over revving your engine and causing damage. Basically when you hit a certain rpm (7400 i think?) the rev limiter kicks in and cuts off fuel, and that is what you felt.

yeah not a problem i've probably done it a half dozen times at least. It's there to prevent you from doing any harm. It's actually not as hard as you'd think..especially if you are in a low gear ready to make a pass in traffic or something.

35????

I must have sensitive ears, but the loudest I can go is 18-20.

I usually drive with the windows up, though since it's getting bitterly cold here.
