Recommendations for tint places in DC/MD/VA?

Anyone? I'd prefer it if you gave me your personal experience at a specific shop, if possible. Also, could you let me know if you said the heck with the law and went darker than 50/35% front/back (Virginia)?

Thanks!

I went to D&L Tinting in White Marsh. I think they have a new shop further south now. Experience was great. i got 20% since one of the warantees they offer covers being pulled over. I never looked into what exactly that means (removal, paying for ticket or what).. i guess i should at some point.

is that to prevent scratching from the window going up and down or whatever? also, do most shops give you an option, and does it cost more?

i should have added "how much did you pay for your tinting job as well, either with or without moleskin/felt/whatever?"

Apparently the rubber seals around the window on the TSX can trap small pieces of dust or rocks in it. When you lower the tinted window, it can result in scratches. The moleskin prevents this from happening.

As for costing more, it probably will cost a few bucks more, but no reputable shop will charge a substantial amount to have this done.

LA Tint in Manassas; they have 3 other locations but Manassas is the best. I ordered the moleskin from a vendor on this site, but in the interim the installer restocked, so they should have some on hand. They were very familiar with the moleskin install and did so for no additional charge.

I you have Nav, go for the F1 Pinnacle, it will not interfere with the electronics.

You can go darker i you want, but I stayed legal.

Highly reccomended; got an early appt and was in and out in 45 minutes... they know their stuff. Somewhat expensive, about $325, but very professional and full warranty.

ooh, nice. thanks Politico, all of that info was extremely helpful. if $325 is expensive, what's "cheap?" obviously i don't want the cheapest junk out there, and if i can get tints done that fast and done right, i'll probably do it. is F1 Pinnacle the only tint that won't interfere, and is it inferior in any other ways?

$325 is WAY too much to pay for a tint, regarless of extra moleskin.

I got 20% tints all around (illegal, but great) on my white Benz (yeah baby) from a shop called "Details, Details, Details" in Rockville for $140. I did some research into local shops on other forums, and many pointed to this place. They are very knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and offer a great package with laser cut custom tint sheets for any car.

For $140, any tint % you want, metallic or non metallic, with a lifetime "re-do" warranty against bubbles and fading. No police insurance (maybe only cause mine is illegal), but I've had this tint for nearly a year and its been great. I got pulled over on 270 a few months ago, cop said nothing about the tints so I guess its not too much of a worry. Good luck.

I should have mentioned, they're on 355 in Rockville, right around Gude. They have a website which is pretty crappy but will give you the phone # and directions. Call for price and appointment.

For a 'cheap' tint, there are plenty of shops up here that will do a $99 tint with no warranties. I wouldn't go that route tho, especially with quality only $41 more just down the road.

Since you revived this thread, let me stress what I now know is the importance of the moleskin. I opted not to get the moleskin, and now have streaks all over what was a beautiful tint job. Im planning on installing the felt myself and taking it back to details to see if they will warranty me a new set.

In hindsight, I really think they should have insisted on the moleskin. Its not if, but when you will get scratches without it. But then again, they cant be expected to know the nuances of every car they ever tint. Argh. Ill update here when I get it fixed.

Look there for where I went for clear bra and tint. My friend also went the same day as me. We are both happy customers.

I did not get moleskin and I have not had any problems. It has been a few months and I open and close my windows quite a bit.
