Unhappy Rear ended Monday...2006 TSX

MONDAY, sitting at a redlite at the bottom of a slight decline on a very lite rain day....I look in my rear view mirror and see a Neon about to smack me. I have no time to react at all, happened in a millesecond.

Wham, kathunk.....I was not even pissed, we had suffered an armed break-in two weeks before and I was basically still in shock mode.

I get out to look and the Neon is spewing steam and fluid everywhere....(19 year old skinny scraggily looking gal with lip ring) both airbags had deployed...(really messed up her lip)

The 1996 Neon could not stop in time on moist surface and hit my 2006 on the factory "tow hook". Figure she hit me at about 15 MPH.

She says....."your car doesn't look damaged"....hers is gutted, grill, radiator core area.
I do notice my vehicle has bumper damage and the right exhaust is bent

Cop comes and asks for license and insurance...figure I am screwed...uninsured driver....turns out she has State Farm....tells her bad news, citation for speeding under the conditions, 110.00

Next day I take it for a couple estimates... rear body panel, muffler assembly, rear bumper cover and minor repair to rear floor pan....estimator says if you had to be rear ended, that was the ideal place for the hit; no serious repercussions in the future. State farm easy to deal with, no prob $2100 and change.

I feel after this experience, Acura builds a VERY solid little car, the 1996 Neon? as it was towed away I commented to the cop...." the good thing about this experience is that there is one less neon on the road"

I'm glad you're OK and the car isn't too bad. As far as uninsured drivers are concerned, as long as you have "uninsured driver" coverage on your policy, you'll be fine. Just one more reason that insurance costs so much.

Gald to hear no one was seriously injured.

And even more sorry to hear about the armed robbery!

I hope that turned out with just lost material items.

Wow, bad run of events for you. Glad everything is going to be ok with the car, though.

On rear end accidents, I would figure the car doing the rear ending would take the brunt of the damage assuming they brake hard and submarine under the rear of the other car.
