If by that you mean the "Rear Shelf Area", no it doesn't look super easy (or really hard, just time consumming).

Special tool required is just to pop the clips...a standard trim "frog" should do it.

Steps are (omiting detailed instructions):

1) Remove seat cushion and seat side bolster, c-pillar trim, rear center seat belt center anchor bolt.

2) Remove high mount brake light.

3) Remove rear speaker grilles.

4) Remove rear shelf.

5) Fiddle with seat belts to pull them out...

i ended up just dynamatting around the speaker holes......

cuz i thikn you have to take out the sidepillars also which are over the curtain airbags.. =/

also i think if u have a rattle there it may be the black box for the seatbelt

If you're gonna try, post for a complete instruction set...one of us with the Service Manual should get around to it. However, the pictures are really helpful for this one, so maybe someone knows where it might be online?

Why not apply the dampening materials from the underside (trunk)?

I attempted this and got so annoyed i gave up. I got it loose enough to be able to put the dynomat underneath it by slipping my hand under, but you need to be careful taking it out because of the side impact air bags there on the pillar.

Like Jan said, try it from underneath, you'd be surprised how much you can get in there from the trunk.

I mean, if you just loosen the shelf and take the speaker covers and such off, you can fit your hands under there and get some above it so you won't see it from the underside. I didn't want to see it either, you can get it up above it.

Can you swap the rear 6x9's without removing the back dash to get to them?

Yes its pretty easy, just pop up the speaker grill (four clips) and unscrew the four bolts that is holding the original speakers.

One thing you have to be aware of is the size of the magnet of the aftermarket speaker. So it doesn't come in conflict with the torsion spring underneath.
