today my A1 light went on but i dont think it had anything to do with it
so anyways i driving towards this red light, i pressed the brakes and my RPMs went up to 4k and my car engined braked. my car is an auto but dont know why it did that.

 

Were you going downhill?

I noticed this too when I am braking while going downhill at around 50 mph

 

I'm not sure what situation you were in but the auto tsxs do automatically downshift when you press the brake sometimes to provide engine braking. Well at lest i've noticed it too and i think i read about it in the manual somewhere.

 

I believe that is the grade logic control kicking in. Mine does it too. Not sure what the OP's circumstances were at the time his car did what it did though.

Lol....gotta love the balloon festival we have around here every year. It's really pretty cool. That pic is from '06. I had the perfect view....hundreds of them were landing in our neighborhood!

 

yeah i was going down a steep hill ~ 35-50mph...
but before that time i was going like 20mph and it did it also.....can someone point out what page this is on the manual?
