Would a human policeman have pulled me over for that? Are there checks in place to insure a violation has occurred and the right person is getting ticketed?
I heard that the photo cameras take a picture right when the light turns red, and also a few seconds after. That way, in case someone accidently stop over the line a little, they know the car stopped and didn't proceed through the intersection.

Edit: Just saw Jlukja response above
If the laws in AZ are the same as Cali, in your case you could have gotten a ticket. The Cali laws says you are not suppose to enter the intersection on a turn unless there is enough room for you to complete the turn. If it doesn't look like there is, then you are suppose to stay behind the white line in the turn lane. Very few cops seem to enforce this law, but one of my friends did get a ticket for this once in San Francisco.

Also, I just heard that AZ has new speed trap cameras on the freeway too . Supposely these cameras can takes pictures up to 3 speeding cars at the same time and they expect to issue thousands of tickets a day. This worries me because if AZ is successful with it, other states will follow.

Thus for me and Tiffany, my car is in her name and hers is in mine name, thus if I run a red light and get a photo ticket and they deliver it to the house, Tiffany cannot get the ticket as she was not the driver but they cannot force her to tell them who the driver was. Nice loop hole.
Do you know if the loophole is the same in Cali?

This happenned to me, I got a ticket on the day of my graduation/birthday. I got a ticket in the mail, and the pic showed me wearing my graduation gown.

I just picked up the Escort Passport 8500 radar detector, supposed to be one of the best on the market. I know some people will argue Valentine One, but I read better things about the passport. I'll let you know what I think of it after a few days of driving with it. I also have a good eye for both marked and unmarked units and have been very successful at avoiding radar traps and speeding tickets.
I swear by my Escort 8500 x50; but I hear the V1 is equally reliable; i wouldn't touch much else with a 10ft poll.

I see lots of people with them especially on the front plates to protect them.

There is some kind of spray on the market that is supposed to be really good too that you spray your plates with. Check this out http://www.phantomplate.com/video.html
That spray is gloss clear coat paint.

Interesting, didn't know about that law. Not used to driving rush hour traffic cause I live 2 miles from work.

Tsx536, if it makes a difference, I was going straight through the intersection, not turning. Of course I'm only going to turn if there's room =P

Thanks for the heads up on the photo radar ticket Zasker1. How's your rear bumper?

Sigh, yes. Again, Scottsdale. I'd be upset if I was a Scottsdale resident. What are those property taxes going towards?

Coworkers told me going 85 is a criminal offense in Arizona, even if the speed limit is 75. Is that true, Zasker1? I do 90 whenever I'm on the highway (love that rubberized pavement) during non-peak hours, and most everyone is going above the posted 65 limit...

Why aren't cars governed at 85 mph then? That seems to be the most efficient way to solve the problem. Oh right, cause you wouldn't get any revenue generated from speeding tickets...

has anyone ever used a Beltronics RX65. It is there new professional model that was released after they were bought out by escort which leads me to believe it may have the same technology in it as the escort x50 as they are very similary priced.

well I ended up buying the Beltronics RX65 off ebay. It is suppossed to be as good as the Escort 8500 x50 since they are both made by escort. It is actually supposed to be just like the Escort 8500 x50. I will let you all know how it is when I get it.

Where is the best place to get the V1? Should i just get it from the website?

I like the fact that there are free upgrades so you will never be out of date. Wish i would have known this when I first got a radar detector
