Ok so i'm going off to college next year to buffalo, I was thinking about getting a TSX, but i was just curious if the long 8 hour ride would be comfortable or not. Also, how is the front wheel drive when it snows? any complaints? and honestly anyone know of a good acura dealer around new york that doesn't give shitty service? thanks!
Failing finding a decent NY dealer, what about finding one nearer to Buffalo, since I presume that's where you'll reside most of the time?
Of course, depends on WHEN next year, you start. Can you hang off that long?

buffalo...yea i know how it snows there, especially friends from SUNY buffalo, they don't go to class cause of snow - - ;
Home:Norther NJ (5 minutes from NYC)
School: Sopohmore at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
i took my car this past summer from NJ, with loaded stuff in trunk, back seat, and front passenger seat ( with air bag off sign on)
it's 12 hour drive, i had to stop every 100 miles (car is only 4 months old, and i had around 3000 miles before i drove to michigan)
FWD is absolutely better than RWD in snow, like places in Ann Arbor or Buffalo.
AWD will work well, but from experience.... in real bad snow, AWD FWD RWD shit don't matter, it's ALL BAD....we all know that...
car ride was comfortable. 12 hour drive, no problem.
really... car is rather quiet too ( maybe because i come from Mercedes ML350 suv).
i was driving, and i did not even realize i was going over 85-90...
best part is mpg. i get 33 on the highway drive. awesome.
i absolutely recommand TSX for college life ride.
i know too many G35 friends and 3 series friends.... so boring...see it all the time.
get 06 with a-spec body kit. it's handsome as hell...at least in my opinion...
everyone has different taste, but G35 in BMW in snow is the worst nightmare.
you cannot even drive to supermarket- - ;
TSX is a car with lots of potential, lots of fun.
hope you make a good decision
(NY, if you don't live too upstate NY, which it seems like it... 8 hour from Buffalo. try Curry Acura in NY or Park Ave Acura in NJ.)

Buffalo gets hit hard with snow....you'll need good snow tires even in this relatively heavy FWD car. The stock a/s tires are not the greatest given their size and tread on snow. Oh, and you need to know how to drive - that helps in the snow, the stability, traction, ABS and 2nd gear start (auto) programs won't help unless you know how to takeoff and brake in the snow/ice.
i would recommend going to curry acura as well. great service, very honest people. look for a salesman named furman. he's a good guy and will help you out. tell him simon w/ the white tsx sent you.

The car is way comfortable for long trips. Went down (From Montreal) to Cape Cod this summer, 8-hour trip, and only stopped once. 32mpg made it that much better (that's with the car loaded, AC on, etc., and through the Adirondacks). Planning to drive down to Florida in April (1500 miles), with wife and two kids!
For the winter, get a good set of winter tires. The A/S aren't worth the A/S designation in the winter, at least not in Buffalo, which is very similar to Montreal from a snow perspective. The VSA and ABS are great, but they won't do anything unless you have good rubber.

It shouldnt do bad in the snow at all. I have a CL in Rochester which is where I am at for school and I had no problem at all last year with it and I just ran a set of beefy all season tires.
"Comfortable" on long trips can depend on what you are coming from.
If you're used to a very cushy ride, you will be find the TSX very firm. But it provides you with the excellent handling as the trade-off, and personally, I find it absorbs bumps well.
I personally have no problems in my TSX on long trips, and in fact loooove more the longer the drive!, haha (and in fact favor it more than our Camry, which is super cushiony and comfortable but not fun to drive)

I too drove it up from the bay area to Seattle and back over the summer for an internship. It was a pleasure to drive on the long road. Gas mileage was amazing and I must agree the XM was great (even though I didn't have it on the way back). The car does have a firm ride but its still comfortable for the long ride.
