Which tranny did you drive? I completely agree with this regarding the MT, but if you're going the AT route I expect the A4 with the CVT is as fast (maybe even faster) than the TSX AT.

(Audi even claims that it's as fast as the MT and offers equal fuel economy)

Oops! I left the salesperson in the trunk! dnl2ba, you're a funny guy!

rb1, I test drove the A4 1.8T with quattro and automatic. I think that the vast majority of A4's here have quattro - I guess because of our climate here, and that people EXPECT Audi's to have quattro, so it'll be a hard re-sale later on if you don't have quattro. CVT only comes with the FWD A4 right now. That quattro was SLOW... the 1.8T engine was such a mismatch to the quattro set up.

Ugh. Even the FWD is on the heavy side for the MT, much less the AT. Quattro adds a couple of hundred pounds on top of that. No wonder.

18 year old + these cars don't really match up to be honest.

are you a girl? if so, the is300 is RWD. i'm not saying you're a bad driver, but a girl in a rwd in snow conditions can be a very scary sight.

not only is insurance going to be high, if this is your first car you should probably be looking for something that is used. generally speaking, new drivers tend to wreck their cars.

Mercedes is crap. Get the IS300 or TSX. IS300 is more popular but the TSX has many more options.
