Question about 12v Switched and Constant with Blitzsafe UII

So last week I ordered and PIE X3 with X3-HON03 cable and a Blitzsafe UII. I was going to put it in this weekend but after the accident, https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28395
I probalby won't have my car for a week or more so I have to wait. But I want to clear some things up. Now the UII is supposed to be plugged into a 12v switched and constant. I guess this is for the feature of charging the ipod 20 min after the car is turned off. Now i don't really need this feature. For anyone who has put in an UII or anyone who would know, do you think it would be fine to just plug one power wire in to the 12v switched and not the constant so it will just charge when the car is on? Would that work? Thank guys!!

Anyone have a UII installed? Or does anyone have a PIE X3 with the UII?

That wouldn't work. You must have the constant wire hooked up to 12v power for the unit to even power on. Whether you hook that constant wire to a true constant 12v or a switched 12v is your decision. I don't know much about the Blitzsafe that you are hooking up so I'm not sure if the constant wiring being hooked up to switched power is going to have any negatives effects.

You might as well just wire it properly though. When I get back from lunch I will try and post the pic showing what fuses you can tap into. I only have pic for the 04/05 though. It might be the same for the 06 though. What year is your car?

Just to get things straight, constant would be always on, and switched would be just on when the car is on right. I have an 05, 6MT, with navi. What I wanted to do is to put the UII on the cigarette lighter thats right under the middle storage boxes. Would that work. I'm not sure if thats switched or constant?

Correct.
Constant is always ON (regardless of ignition position)
Switched is only ON when the ignition is on.

The cigarette lighter socket is switched power. It only receives power when the ignition is on. So it wouldn't work if you wanted constant power. If you test out the device and realize that constant power isn't absolutely necessary, then it would work though.

Here's a thread with info for tapping into the fuse box for power. You can get constant power from there if you end up needing it. You can buy a mini add-a-circuit from Autozone to make it really easy.
