Navigation in Hawaii??

Hello forum. I have a quick question:

I am about to move from Maryland to Hawaii and I have the navigation system (2004 TSX purchased in 03). I noticed that Hawaii isn't on my DVD. Does anyone know if the newer version has Hawaii? Is there a specific Hawaii DVD?

Thanks,

Jonathan

Don't worry, there are only three roads on Oahu. You won't need it... :-)

I guess I just feel bad because I paid 2k for it and it will be useless over there. Makes me think about selling this one and getting something else over there.

Thanks for the updates so far. Not a good sign that they don't offer it as an option. If anyone knows for sure if the newer DVD's have Hawaii roads let me know.

Sorry the older (04+) TL and TSX Navigation discs do not have our road information on the DVD. The newer RL system works on all islands. Unfortunately these discs do not work in the earlier systems, however, as new cars are introduced, the Navi's will start to work here. The new RDX will have functioning Navi.

What brings you to Hawaii (land of the highest fuel prices in the nation)?- CS

Yeah, but beyond H-1, H-2 and H-3, try pronouncing Kalanianaole Highway when you're lost!

I am civilian with the DoD and am transferring voluntarily. I am hoping the change of scenary will make the cost of living difference worth it!

Speaking of which, I just went to http://www.honolulugasprices.com/ and it seems that the gas is about a dime a gallon more than Maryland. Not too bad. I was surprised to see it under 3 bucks.

Lucky you in relocating to Hawaii!! I think you should probably upgrade to a newer car since your navi can't be used in Hawaii. Of course that's assuming you are staying in Hawaii for a long time. The new '06 TSX looks tempting...

Unless the government is going to pay for shipping, I'm not sure this make financial sense shipping it there.

Yes, the government ships one car. If not I would sell both mine and my wife's (02 Xterra) for sure and start over.

Oh, speaking of upgrading to 06, does XM work in Hawaii?

I will be working for PACOM.

No XM in Hawaii either. You should be getting COLA to offset the gas prices though right?

Yeah, I get COLA but I don't think enough to offset house + gas + groceries (I don't get to use the exchanges!).

My wife and I are so spoiled with the Navi. It's enought to make me start looking at other cars to find one that will work in HI.

I don't think anyone has working Navi in Hawaii...........affordable working Navi that is. We have it in the RL, but that's quite a jump from a TSX. Of course we are clearing out that last of the 2005s at pretty good pricing I don't believe the BMW or Merc Navi's work here.

Lots of white people tend to dislike Hawaii after being there for a few weeks/month. It's cool in theory and all, but when you go to the cash register and watch a local pay less for that gallon of milk then you're about to pay because of the kama'aina rates, it gets to some people after a while. Also, they finally know what it feels like to be a minority. Not trying to stir the pot, but I have a few friends that went over and had some bad experiences. The people I bought my house from moved there for about 3 months and were suppose to be there for 2 years. They didn't like it and move d back hella fast.

As for me I love it! I wish there was money to be made out there for me.

Check my cuz Richard @ Liquid Metal Tattoos by the 24hr fitness in Pearl Ridge. Get some ink!
