Question.....
Question.....
I'm very car stupid... or should I say engine stupid, that's why I read alot more than I post.
I have, I'm sure the dumb question of the week so please go easy on me.
I know the TSX is awesome and pretty quick but how would it compare to a Jetta VR6?
A buddy of mine has one, on a stick
, my TSX is 5AT and I was just wondering if I had any argument to run my mouth and bust his cajones
?
If we were to go against each other what would the most likely outcome be?

On second thought, the VR6 engine avoids that engine coil recall VW had, so you'd be stuck hoping his wheels fall off.
Vr6 has same HP but significantly higher torque than the TSX, you'll probably get burned. But if the Jetta is an older one(2001 and older I believe)with the 176hp VR6 you can probably take him.
Actually, a 60 year old woman driving a V6 AT Carmy would kill you... There is much more to the TSX other than the off the line acceleration.
Just wait until he start having some reliability problems with his VW.
I actually like the Jetta VR6 but I would not even consider one.
-There are too many Jettas on the road for now.
-The shifter is not even close to the TSX's.
-VW parts are much more expensive
-The shape of the car is not to my taste
The Jetta has some good qualities but I haven't seen any car magazines rating the Jetta at the top of their comparos lately.
Just my 2 cents

Ok so I would get burned off the line...... What about highway speeds. Say we were to drive side by side and decide to put em hammer down, would I be able to pull away from him?

I thought I'd challenge that statement but you were proved right. A 2002 Camry SE AT with 192HP does 0-60 in 8.0 sec and the 1/4 mile in 16.1.
Note to Self: Stay away from 60 year olds driving AT V6 Camry's

But I'll still take the ease of the auto and the sometimes fun of the SS over the extra speed of the 6MT in a heartbeat now that I've gotten use to the Auto.

Actually, I think we're fortunate to be in the midst of a horsepower war. The TL, Accord, Maxima, etc. are putting out hp numbers for midsize sedans that would've been unheard of a few years ago.
Whats next? The new automatic kia subcompact does 0-60 in 7.8???
Its funny, I was heavily leaning towards the Accord EX V6 before I bought the TSX simply because I thought staraight line acceleration what was I wanted most.
I'm now having more and more fun with the TSX's handling characteristics everday. Its simply a fun car to drive, which the 240 HP Accord is not. I think the same can be said for alot of those cars in the "HP Wars" IE Maxima, Grand Prix. HP is'nt everything and I thought I would never say that.
