Python 991 Install Help Please!!
Python 991 Install Help Please!!
I recently had a local remote and alarm install shop put the Python 991 in my 2005 Acura TSX, my family has had other cars worked on there with no problems.
I immediately started having problems when I picked it up after the install. When remote starting the factory horn would go off. He set the car to unlock and re lock but the horn still went off. My other issue is sometimes the doors would lock and unlock and sometimes they wouldn't. Although the aftermarket alarm would make the lock and unlock noise, the door locks wouldn't pop open.
I have brought it back twice and he is stumped on what's not working. It works there and after driving it for a while it stops working. My guess was that the bypass module being used is not correct. It's going back in on Saturday for one last chance before he removes it and I get my money back. He said he's going to try another module other than Directed Electronics.
What bypass modules do you guys use? and has anyone had these similar problems? Thank you.

There are data interfaces that do the lock/unlock and arm/disarm for these cars. My guess, is one of these was used. However (and I do this for a living) they don't work right on the TSX for some odd reason. (I tried one in mine initially, and it dod the same thing, even with the latest software) To fix this, you need to run wires into the drivers door and tap onto the dedicated arm (should be white/red) and disarm (should be white) most places don't like to do this on Honda/Acura vehicles because of the grease filled plug in the door boot. You need to pull it apart and drill holes through both halves and pull the wires through. Its kind of a PITA, but its what's required if you want it to work correctly. Also, use the dedicated lock (should be pink/black) and unlock (should be pink/blue) on a green plug on the side of the fuse box.
Providing everything else was installed correctly and its properly grounded, I promise you, it will fix your problem.

Sorry, I re-read and noticed the use of a DEI interface (sorry, they are junk) I only use Fortin. All you need is a standard immobilizer bypass that works on all the Honda/Acura vehicles and hardwire the rest. Bypass modules like that, that do everything, are great when they work correctly. However, they don't always do what they're supposed to. When you hardwire the locks, content alarm (the part the sounds the horn if someone breaks in) and trunk, it will work every time without fail.
