proud owner of a new RBP tsx .. but ..

my first post on this forums. Just bought a new RBP tsx auto without navi on friday with 3 miles. It has only 50 miles so far now as I just got the temporary insurance. Bought it for $26,300 + TTL minus $1500 for tradein. No APR business, told the dealer I am financing then the finance manager asked me about the payments and I just gave him a cashier's check for the full amount. Caught him off guard

Loving the car but have a few issues:

1) No Daytime Runnin Lights - I knew about it before I bought the car but kinda sucks since I was used to DRL.

2) No automatic door lock after shifting into drive

3) mileage is still low .. though I have read it does get better after breaking it in. Hope so.. don't want to find myself trading this in for a hybrid later j/k.

Minor issues that I'll get over I think the only modifications I'll do are tint and the interior blue leds like the TL's. Otherwise, gotta keep my budget low

1) daytime running lights are crap.
2) never really had auto-locks b/c of driving stick all my life, but, how hard is it to just hit the lock button? it's on the door, right next to your left pinky finger...... (lazy?)
3) reset the gas mileage computer and let it start fresh, even though you bought it with only 3 miles on it. i noticed that mine was really low and wouldn't climb at all after ~200 miles but it must have been due to the dealer idling the car while giving it its initial check.

1. You can leave your headlight on, and the car will turn it off after 15 seconds I believe. Not many cars in the states have DRL's (not required here, unlike Canada). You might be able to install a generic DRL kit...

2. My TSX is the 4th Honda in the family, and I don't think any of them auto-lock when you go into drive (my TSX is a MT though). The problem I have is that I'm used to my accord's aftermarket alarm, which would unlock the doors for me when I turned off the engine. Even after a month, I'm still trying to get out while the door is locked lol. I know there's a company that makes modules (www.kptechnologies.com) that has the auto lock/unlock module (locks after 6 seconds of ignition being on, unlocks when ignition is off). There have been groupbuys for the company's "window roll-up" module which lets them close the windows with the remote

3. Your mileage should increase after the car's broken in.

There's an entire thread of "What I don't like about my TSX." You should read it, if know to you that probably others have similar feelings as yours.

1) personal preference, I hate the way they look. DRLs will always remind me of American cars

2) hate auto locking doors as well, my wife's car does it and it drives me nuts when I try to get out. could be useful if I were somewhere unsafe, but I feel safe enough that I wont be car jacked

3) the fuel indicator is not linear, it will go fastest through the top 1/4, slowest throug the middle 1/2 and fast through the bottom 1/4. Don't even try to measure your gas mileage until you fill up at a tank divide mileage/gallons filled

DRL's have been proven to save lives. Why most of you don't like them is beyond strange.

I have to confess, I thought our car had 'em. Going back to '99 every vehicle we've purchased had them - this is surprising news. Learn something new about your car every day, I guess.

Anyway, congrats on the new car. It's an awesome color. I was visiting a local dealer today for a couple of parts and they had one on the showroom floor. $26,300 sounds like an incredible deal, too.

Unfortunately they also cost lives. Until the fetish for DRL's started in the States, it was clear the light coming at you during the day was a motorcycle...accidents were down. Now they seem to be creeping up again...I'd love to see some Canadian numbers on this.

I suspect they save lives mainly on the invisible colors (Silvers, Browns, Greys...or most of the TSX's in other words) because it makes them less easy to overlook.

(RBP MT Navi Ebony 2006 built 5/16/2006 and now getting seasick!)

P.S. Sob, sob...my time with my Cooper S is almost over...gotta make the move to four door though!

DRL = overrated I would get it if your insurance effects it

newplay - autolock feature can be reprogrammed with keyfob? can you clarify please?

I think newplay was referring to the feature when you leave the car with the key out of the ignition right?

Mine auto locks once I press the brake after i start the car. The reason why mine does that is because I have an auto starter installed and one of the options available to me was the auto lock feature after you start the car and press on the brake.
